who else likes black beans?

never had them growing up and started trying them last yr. Son and I are completely hooked on canned black beans.

I guess nobody likes them

Nope on canned but yes on dried. I eat very few canned beans but eat all sorts of dried beans regularly. Been eating black beans all my life. Call it poor folks food if you want but my pantry is always stocked with dried beans and rice.

Except great northern, never cared for those nasty chalky tasting beans.

Black beans are a great carb source. Canned beans have 1/3 less nutritional value than beans that you cook yourself..

I love beans of all kinds, including black beans.

Especially Black Eyed Peas, I think they are bean right?

I like Black beans. I puree them with tomatoes, onions and jalapenos to make a wicked good burrito sauce.

Other than color and size there ain't a lot of difference in any beans commonly found in the grocery store IMO, it's all about what you add to them and how you cook em.

Black beans matter.
They make a good ingredient for a cold salad.
Warrior is a smart man. Keep lots of dry beans and rice in the pantry. Store what you use. Use what you store.

Lots of sodium in the canned beans. Rinse them well r soak your own.

You mean I shouldn't add salt to canned beans?

Can't have beans without bacon grease, a ham bone, smoked hocks, jowl bacon or the whole dang pig. LOL

Oh, and onion.

Pinto beans is one of my favorites. Done up with a good dollop of bacon grease some tomato sauce and a healthy dash or two of Tabasco.

Im talking as a side,,not in soup beans etc. I was shocked how tasty these canned are. I really dont have enough time to be soaking beans most of the time. Maybe weekends only.

However, I also like beans in Chili, kidney bean salad, baked beans, refried beans, beans in enchiladas & salsa, red beans and rice, etc... heck I can even eat a serving or two of canned limas with just some butter salt and pepper for a side dish.

Mama taught me to put them on to soak before heading out the door for work. The rest comes together quickly.

Oh man, I think great northerns make for the best bean soup out there. I guess I should expect this from silly folk that put sugar in their ice tea and forget to put it in their cornbread

Navys or pintos in my ham & bean soup, but there is something odd about the great northern that doesn't appeal to me.
Now that I am making my living in the Mexican cheese business, I have come to appreciate black beans in my recipes.

I like black beans. I like them in soups, Mexican food, dips and salads.

We had navy beans and ham for supper last night.

We mostly eat pinto, navy or black beans. Black beans, except for the beans in Bush's Baked Beans and refried beans are the only beans we eat out of a can pretty often. We sometimes put black beans in burritos or tacos straight out of the can. We cook dried black beans too.

I do like a can of pork and beans but they get drained mixed with onion, brown sugar, some ketchup, mustard, worchestershire, maybe some bbq sauce and liquid smoke and baked.

I love black bean soup with a little spice and cheese.

Beans can get a quick boil and be ready to cook with no soaking if fresh.

My wife didn't use to eat them and now she asks for them to be added.

I like to throw them into chili with the kidney beans.

Just got back from a trip to aldis. Bought a case of canned ones. Got dry ones too but sometimes its nice to brown some meat, dump in a can of tomatoes with basil oregano and garlic already added and a can of those beans. Quick meal that tastes good. Sometimes I do it with a can of tomatoes that have chilies already added.

I also use the tomatoes canned with jalapenos.

I eat black beans with ground beef. They're edible but not really a favorite of mine. I can't say anything bad about them. I get gas after I eat them.

Green salad. Top with bite size cubed chicken breast cooked in barbecue sauce until sticky. Then add the warmed black beans and corn and a drizzle of ranch dressing. YUM! (definitely not the same without the black beans.)
