Re: Anyone try this ? - 10/21/21 12:49 AM

That depends on if you're a connoisseur of fine meats and your pallet. Worth it? . . . not to me.

is there any meat in that -- or is it all fat? I think i will stick to a moderately well finished beef.

A lot of it is. It is the way the cow is raised and slaughtered. Fancy livin' . . . at least for awhile.

Prime rib is liven good enough for me

For sure not venison.

I love well marbled but that is ridiculous. And that's saying something for me as my favorite part of a ribeye is that chunk of fat at the pointy end.

I’ve had it before. A friend of mine got his hands on some, and gave me a pack. It was probably the best steak I’ve ever eaten, but I can’t imagine paying that much for it!

Re: Anyone try this ? - 10/21/21 03:27 AM

By the time all that fat melts out on the barbie all you'll be left with is some burger.

Go a day or 2 before the expiration date and the price will be drastically reduced

Re: Anyone try this ? - 10/21/21 09:26 AM

My wife got me one of those for our anniversary. I was almost afraid to grill it. It was very good, and a one pound steak was enough for the wife and I and our youngest ( she's 19) .
It was very rich and buttery tasting, I had read that you didn't need to eat as much of it as a normal ribeye in order to be satisfied. I agree.
With all that being said, I will probably NOT be buying it again. It was not , in my opinion , more than 5 times as good as regular ribeye.

Re: Anyone try this ? - 10/21/21 10:22 AM

I was at a bachelor party in Vegas once and decided it was one of the only times I’d pry ever have a chance at it and ordered one for supper one of the nights. It was delicious, but it was $140+ cost of the sides. Seems outrageous, but looking back that was probably one of the cheaper parts of the whole weekend and although I wouldn’t make a habit out of ordering it off the menu it’s an experience I don’t regret!

Re: Anyone try this ? - 10/21/21 11:18 AM

Trappercass, I have a uncle who will drop $800-$1200 on a supper for 4-5 people and says it’s worth every penny. I personally get nervous if my bill at Wendy’s is over $10 for me and about have a heart attack when I take the family out.

Most the meat I buy says Oscar Mayer on the label.

Re: Anyone try this ? - 10/21/21 12:39 PM

People who earn 10 or 20 times the avg persons wage eat stuff like that regularly.
It would be the same as you paying 7 or 8 dollars for a steak.Peanuts.
I'll take a slab of moosemeat any day over that fat thing,no matter how much money I had..

Have had it numerous times, everything from burgers to filets only when visiting my BIL in Florida. It's good but different, give me a choice ribeye any day.

First world problems.

I’ll keep my venison.

I'm thinking about trying it, but in the sense of raising it. Have been in talks with an association about their requirements.

Just looking at it I had to change my shorts. That would lube up your intestines for sure!

Re: Anyone try this ? - 10/21/21 09:35 PM

Welfare food. Only people with food stamps can afford it!
