Not going to shoot anything sitting at home, My personal opinion is any time of legal shooting time is ok I have walked out into the woods with less then a half hour left of daylight and still shot a buck minutes after sitting down
Conversely I have gotten up late and arrived at the woods at 9/9:30 and seen and shot deer
As long as your not tramping and making tons of noise going in I believe you still have a chance
Getting to the time where no time is a bad time or amount of time in the stand in the stand. I have stands set 40 yards of the road on the property I can be in and sit for 30 minutes. It sometimes only takes seconds this time of year.
I'm just leaving and have an hour drive. But I'm taking kids and it's hard for them r to sit still for more than a few hours so I we go earlier they are getting antsy at prime time.ps it 415
Edit. Hit traffic jam didn't get set up tell 6. I'm sitting on the ground about 60 yards away form my 11 year old in a summit with x bow. My 9 year old is another 80 yards east shooting squirrel with his suppressed .22. He dropped one as we were walking away.
I do believe we are to deep to be this late but hope I'm wrong. I may have just heard another .22 shot hard to tell with the suppressor and sub loads.
As to not being able to shoot then from home comments well depending on where you live. Myself and daughter have shot them out of our bathroom window at our old house.
I have shot my biggest bucks after sleeping in and going for a walk around 8:30am. Also Sharon is right, more big bucks get shot around noon because everyone has left the woods for lunch.
The subject of when to hunt was a regular discussion at deer camp. We all agreed that other than the first hour and last hour of the day, most were taken between 10am. and 2pm.
Raining now and I’m not prepared for it. Had a small doe come back by me going the other way. Heard a couple grunts but it could be someone hunting near by. Oh well, at least I’m seeing deer. lol
