Health insurance recommendations - 10/26/21 04:38 PM

Any health insurance recommendations for folk living in the south ? Preferably something that can cover seeing a shrink ?

Doesn't your job offer it? Private insurance would be a LOT more expensive.

With job openings everywhere, I suggest working where group insurance is free or inexpensive. Nothing wrong with private insurance, but is sure is costly mand may not be as good as a group policy.

When I worked for Prudential (who is now out of the health insurance business), our individual policy was not nearly as good as our group products. That was 20 years ago.

If you're a man of the Word, check out Christian Healthcare Ministries. My family has been using them for years.

There are a couple Christian based cost sharing groups. The one we use is named Christian Healthcare Ministries. Medishare is a different group I don't have experience with.

it seems like your satisfied with it, what has your experience been with getting authorized for an expensive thing like an MRI?

There is no authorization required. You go get any and all medical treatment that you need. Set up payment plans with the provider and CHM reimburses you for everything you spend after the first $500.

I get much better and faster medical care than those with insurance because I don't need to wait for anything to be authorized.

I needed an MRI due to a vision problem I was having. The eye doctor wrote out the order for the MRI. I took the MRI over to the local hospital that was only a block away, walked into Imaging and handed them the order. They took me right into the back and put me in the machine. I was in that machine about 15 minutes after I was told I should get an MRI. Had I been using traditional insurance I would have had to wait for someone in an office to review my records and determine if it was necessary, approve it, blah, blah, blah.

I'm much happier with CHM than when I had traditional medical insurance. It costs me about a quarter of what I would have to pay per month for our local hospital system insurance.

I think you're in for a shock, Wolfdog. An affordable individual policy my require a $10-20k deductible.
