And the judge has taken good care of the jurors , in telling them they are protected and don't have to be scoured by the fake media. If they want to talk about it they can , but if they don't, they will be protected. The media was firmly directed not to bother them.

I liked the judge in this case. He shut down multiple attempts at misconduct by the two sleazy prosecutors. I think if Rittenhouse had been found guilty the judge would have declared a mistrial with prejudice.

Re: Not Guilty - 11/19/21 07:40 PM
Ought to be a couple lessons learned. The MOST guilty in all this was whoever it is in public office......the one's responsible for maintaining order.......to stand down and let it burn. These are not protests.......they are full blown lawless riots, with looting and arson thrown in for good measure. That cannot be allowed to happen in civil society no matter what. We assign that authority to them, and they cannot absolve the responsibility. If they do, all bets are off.
Second......if you do elect to participate in a full blown riot, you can now assume you do not get a free pass. You are no longer an untouchable.
Lastly, the final beat down has to come to the media's front door. They accept and promote the lies, and then lie about lies.....and promote the violence. Condone and sanction it. That cannot continue either.

In July the NY Post, or the Times, ran an article titled Kyle Rittenhouse: American Vigilante
Anyone can call him anything they choose. That doesn't rise to the level of defamation necessarily. Let's look at Biden calling Rittenhouse a "white supremacist". If that is Biden's,(or a newspaper's ) opinion of Rittenhouse, that doesn't mean it is a defamatory statement. It's Biden's opinion. You can't sue someone for his opinion. Also, the statement MAY be correct. Biden doesn't KNOW whether it is correct and neither do we. So it may be absolutely correct. Only Rittenhouse knows the answer to that. I don't, Biden doesn't, and you don't. So how do you prove it was a false statement when Biden said it ? AND how do you prove he knew it was false ? You can't.
I think it would be tough to prove that Biden knows anything or has any coherent thoughts.....but that's a different issue.
Don't misunderstand my position. I am all in favor of him getting something for his pain & suffering. I'm just saying it's going to be very difficult, IMO, to prove defamation.

Any statements made after the the case was sent to the jury is defamation IMHO, And plenty of talking heads were spewing their lies. Personally I'd love to hear them justify their lies in a public forum when someone is asking them the questions and they can't ignore those questions, When you've gone through what Kyle has, money isn't the only thing of value.

Yes, I worried about them not caving when all the trash talk was being hurled at them by thug bullies.
Same with the judge. That judge didn't take no mess from anyone. He handled that narrow eyed liberal prosecutor well. And he made sure to protect the jurors and ensure that fake news was under direct orders not to hound them . And having the NG and police all on the grounds and in the courtroom, less someone acts up about the verdict.
This should set a good precedent for judges and jurors alike to stand strong and not put up with that garbage .
Our Second Amendment rocks.

The hate for this young man from actors , ballplayers, nascar, and others is mind blowing.
Mean while over on Yahoo.......
NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson
The verdict in the Kyle Rittenhouse case is a travesty and fails to deliver justice on behalf of those who lost their lives as they peacefully assembled to protest against police brutality and violence. Rittenhouse’s decision to go to Kenosha and provoke protestors was unwarranted. Moreover, the outcome of this case sets a dangerous precedent. We have seen this same outcome time and time again; a justice system that presents different outcomes based on the race of the accused. This verdict is a reminder of the treacherous role that white supremacy and privilege play within our justice system. In the midst of this disappointing verdict, we must continue to work to ensure that those who seek to harm progress do not find refuge for their illicit acts in a system meant to protect victims.

It would be nice to see several hundred concerned citizens lining the streets of Kenosha tonight with their guns to keep an "eye" on the "peaceful protesters".
That would usher in a huge turning point.
That's how it went down in San Antonio when the scumbags set out to vandalize the Alamo. When they got there there was a thin blue line around the place (cops in full rut gear) and behind then was a rather thick band of armed militia.
The rioters decided to let the Alamo slide LOL

I haven't read much that was said or printed about Rittenhouse. I'd like to know who you think he should sue, and what exactly that person said that was defamatory.
I would think calling him a white supremacist would be defamatory?
I dont think so-He is white and came out on top in his confrontations and trial.

Nope.
Why?
Because all they had to do was call their Uncle George (Soros) to pay the bill.

Re: Not Guilty - 11/20/21 01:55 AM
Say what? Every paper in the country has printed articles calling him a vigilante, a white supremacist, owning a weapon illegally etc etc. You obviously haven't read anything if you haven't seen what the media has been saying about him. This case was tried in the court of public opinion long before it ever reached the courthouse. Note, those chickens have come home to roost.
Because the prosecution and everyone else has been through every single piece of his online postings, his phone, etc and NOT ONE SINGLE PIECE OF EVIDENCE was found linking him to any white supremacist organization or support or posting thereof. You can have your opinion, but when you tell obvious lies about someone for over a year and smear that person's name, you dang better believe you're gonna get hit with a defamation suit. Not ONCE did the media ever say anything about him other than he was a racist, white supremacist vigilante who deserves to go to prison for life. That's defamation by every legal definition.

I didn't realize you were a lawyer.
As such you know as well as I do that Rittenhouse is free to bring suit.
My point is that those whom he might sue can easily use the valid defense of "OPINION" they can also use the valid defense of "INNOCENT DISSEMINATION".
Regardless of what the media said, they can always claim it was their opinion, and that they had no information that indicated otherwise. They may in fact be lying about that, but how is Rittenhouse going to prove it was NOT an opinion ?
The same applies directly to this discussion. Your opinion is different from mine. I can't prove you are wrong or that I am right. And neither can you. That is the difficulty he faces. Opinion is subjective.
I just don't see him getting anywhere if someone decides to fight the charges.......if there are any. I think any of his targets have too many legal arguments that they can use to defend against a defamation suit.

It's much easier to win a defamation lawsuit in Britain and Europe than in the US, where we have the First Amendment.
If the prosecutor says Kyle is a white supremacist murderer, and the media reports that claim, who is liable for defamation?
In the US, a lawyer (or anyone else) can say anything in court without being liable for defamation. Statements made under oath in a court proceeding are privileged because we want witnesses and parties to speak candidly there.
The news media can report on what is said in court without fear of a lawsuit because of the First Amendment, as interpreted by the Supreme Court. For a public figure like Rittenhouse, the burden of proof is heavy: actual malice.

In fact I think black people have a lot of ways to benefit by this case. This case may help prevent some riots. People might be a little less inclined to act a fool if there are armed people there now and riots mostly affect black communities, not white communities. Further, black business owners might now feel better protecting their businesses with the knowledge that they can defend themselves if the need arises.

That lawyers created is more like it. One thing the trial showed clearly, if anyone was paying attention, is the best and worst of legal practice along with an obvious abandonment of the claimed first mission of our judicial system. That being being pursuit of TRUTH and Justice.
JMO, but if barristers want to hold an exclusivity upon the practice of law then they should couple that with extreme penalty for malpractice rather than render themselves immune from sanction.
Clearly the prosecution in this case fabricated and withheld and prevaricated.

Perhaps you should read the definition of defamation that has already been posted. I'll take "Rittenhouse will be over $500M richer for $2000 Alex". You can have an opinion all you want, but when you put it out for the
world to see to intentionally drive a false narrative, you're going to end up in court.
I can't believe you honestly believe these idiots are covered by "Innocent Dissemination". There was nothing innocent about the intent behind their narrative. The Anti Defamation League has already weighed in that he has a case against multiple outlets, as well as Biden.
It sounds like you'd rather support the misinformation brigade than Kyle. No wonder the country is in the state it is these days.

Innocent dissemination only covers those who might report on what others have said not those who make statement of fact.
If I reported Jimbo said "anyone with a pulse" and can verify it then I'm in the clear but if I reported that Jimbo is in fact a dog faced pony soldier then I am responsible for that statement when he proves that he is not.

The amount from cnn was never disclosed either. He still has several lawsuits pending. When it is all said and done he will be a very wealthy young man.

You are completely missing my point so I'll try i t one more time.
1. I am glad KR was acquitted.
2. IMO he never should have been charged.
3. People and media outlets made all sorts of comments about the guy. Some were obviously unfair and perhaps untrue.
4. He probably has grounds to bring an action against various people and entities.
5. I wish him well
but IMO he will have a difficult time winning in court
You can quibble about definitions all you want but remember, as James pointed out, he, RITTENHOUSE, has to prove actual malice. Biden et al don't have to prove anything. I don't believe KR can manage to do that.
He may bring suit and get a settlement out of court. I think that is his best option. But if it goes to trial I believe he will lose.

Lol, Nessmuck.
Let's take this one step at a time. What defamatory statements were made, and who made them?
"Jimbo is in fact a dog faced pony soldier" is not defamatory. Most insults aren't defamatory. Otherwise, James could find a goldmine of lawsuits here.
The entire media won't be liable, it would (possibly) be Don Lemon and MSNBC or someone else specific and their employer. What if anything did Biden say about KR?
Who was it who wrote or said something that defamed Kyle?

Jimbo, candidate Biden specifically referred to Rittenhouse as a "white supremacist" while on the campaign trail shortly after the incident occurred.
I searched the usual places for a video clip but it's been scrubbed from the net in the googleverse, I'm sure its still available on the free web.
And yes, there's a difference between Biden saying it and someone reporting he said it.

Under the circumstances, calling Kyle a "white supremacist" would be, imho, defamatory.
If you can find where the president said that, I'd be interested to see it. Shame on him, if he did. He at least owes an apology, if he said it.

Leo Terrell ,a black civil rights attorney stated Kyle has an excellent case for suing Biden since he was a private citizen at time of statement.

I’m glad he was found not guilty, after seeing Kyle’s emotions during the trial I think he and his support network should be more concerned about him getting some mental help than going after people for lawsuits, he has gone through a very traumatic experience and will need as much help as he can get going forward.

Have you ever heard this president say one negative thing about white supremacists? Have you ever heard it? That's the reason I got back in this race because what happened in Charlottesville," Biden said in a 2020 interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper.

I don't believe that is quite accurate.
There was a campaign video that showed the Unite the Right rally in Charlotte on one side of the screen and a still picture of KR in Kenosha the night of the riot. on the other side
It is a Biden campaign video. The video APPEARS to equate KR to the "white supremacists" in Charlotte.
Those words are never used. It is only implied.
The only statements I can find from Biden are in reference to Trump. Not KR

Jim, you haven't looked into this very much. Try Googling "Biden tweets Rittenhouse is white supremacist" that occurred on the campaign trail in Sept. of 2020.

Here's one of several videos of candidate Biden referring to Rittenhouse a's past of a white supremacist militia.
Biden also had a tweet or 2 calling him a racist and supremacist but I don't have Twitter

Maybe, but wasn't the Paula Jones vs Slick Willie brought forward while the Rapist in Chief was still in the oral office due to the fact the exposure occurred prior to entering the office.

What's Clinton got to do with the not guilty verdict?
Jim
I think he's trying to say that he thinks a President can be charged while in office, for a crime he committed before taking office?

Re: Not Guilty - 11/21/21 08:52 AM
Oh.
I can't remember the details there. Was the civil lawsuit brought (I think) by Paula Jones and others allowed to proceed while Clinton was in office?
I've been wrong before, but I thought the law was that lawsuits are stayed pending a president's term. The policy for such a rule is that the president has more important duties than to answer civil lawsuits, which after all might be brought for political purposes.
Jim
Going only on my memory the supremes allowed the sexual assault civil trial to go forward because it was before his election
Willie the pervert was later in hot water for lying under oath that he "never had sex with that woman" when his trysts with Monica were brought up in the civil suit to show a pattern of sketchy sexual behavior. Monica saying they were in love and Willie was going to leave Hillary for her.

Re: Not Guilty - 11/21/21 09:00 AM
Btw, Biden didn't commit a crime. He may have slandered Kyle, but here in the US (as opposed to Europe, where they have no First Amendment) slander isn't a crime.
Also, btw, and apropos of nothing, I never voted for Clinton. I was a strict Libertarian in those days.

That's ringing a bell here. The lying scumbag should have been prosecuted for perjury.

Yeah after I wrote it I realized "crime" wasn't the right word, since we're talking about a civil case. But, you got my meaning, lol.
Willie so far as I can tell broke no laws either till he said under oath, "I never had sex with that woman". Saying later that oral copulation was not sex and it depends on what the meaning of the word is is.
That is all going off my memory which has some flaws these days.

Clinton was stupid in his arrogance. He should have settled with the plaintiffs before his deposition.
He had to know the question was coming. That means he didn't speak spontaneously. He planned to commit perjury.

Thank the Lord for the judge. Just think of what it could have been!
Hopefully this is the beginning to "A New Awakening"... An outstanding Jury and a Judge with very large gonads. I think the Judge should run for Governor.
How was the jury out? I haven't seen that reported, although I am sure it has been.
We ALL need to say... "Thank You Jesus", for guiding the juror and the judge and of course the attorneys for Kyle.

Garry, if I am understanding you correctly, the judge ordered those fake news stalkers to leave the jurors alone. Under order not to bother or stalk the jurors . They all wanted to interrogate the jurors, of course, but the judge ordered them NOT to. What he did was to give the jurors the identities of the fake news outlets who want to chew them up with set up questions...but it will be up to each juror whether they decide to contact them or not. Meantime, the stalkers are under strict orders to leave them all the heck alone.
I would think those jurors , to a person, won't want to be bothered with them , ever. Not the ones who work for the Marxist left , anyway. It is easy to tell who those are.
Guess who has the privilege of interviewing Kyle , his very first time ...Tucker . Monday night. Can't wait to see this.
Where is the media coverage? Where is the wall to wall commentary? Where are the pandering politicians?

In the grand scheme of things it may be an even more important verdict in upholding the right to fight back against government action which is exactly what 2A is all about.
Now we should take a serious look at the permanent slave class we call felons and allow those who have fully paid their debt and are willing to abide by the same rules as the rest of us their citizenship back.
