Carlis Stephens passed

I heard that Carlis passed yesterday morning after a long battle with brain cancer. He invented the Coon Dagger DP, as well as other innovations. Rest in peace Carlis. Prayers for his wife.

I pray his spirit is with our Lord and God brings comfort to his family in this time of loss. Bought some oil from him a couple of times and have some of his traps. Very helpful guy the one time I had the pleasure of visiting with him.

Carlis was a good friend and certainly a man of many talents. Loyal to his friends, a hard worker, no quit in him. Very good trapper, very good at designing products to make a trapline faster and more productive. He was dealt a tough hand, but fought a good fight and left nothing on the table. Rest in peace.

We didn't know Carlis well but we did get the opportunity to fish with him for a bit at the spoonbill weekend in 2017.

RIP Carlis. He pm'ed me one time on here back about 2013 about me using his trap's name as my username. I was just a kid and it was my favorite trap, he told me to keep it and wished me the best. Trapping world will miss him for sure
