We lived in North Dakota in the early 70's for about 6mos. Dad said there was a coon he saw standing on it's hind legs and looking down into a 55 gal trash barrel
I've got one in the freezer that may give that one a run for it's money. If I remember, I'll post back here once I skin/flesh/board with a measurement.
I have several 54 inch stretchers and each year I usually get a couple that go 40 to 41 inches to the end of the skirt. The longest I ever had was 42 and a tad more, but I have never caught a 40 lbs. coon. In fact the two heaviest that I ever did weigh were females and they were 37 lbs. and very, very fat and did not stretch 40 inches on those board. Males with their huge heads and shoulders are the coons that stretch very long. Most of my larger males are poor color for the most part.
