Seven Years Ago!

Seven Years Ago! - 11/25/21 01:28 PM

Seven years ago today I had my chemo port removed. Doctor actually had me not do the last two doses. Because I handle all the previous one with no reduction.
So I'm still looking at grass from the green side.

What do you have to be Thankful for today?

Mac

That's Awesome Mac!
There is a reason you were given more time!

In 06' I went Tubing behind a too fast ski boat ; Crashed and dissected my R. Carotid.
I stroked bad , life flight they almost lost me twice. Flown to Abbott NW. In the cities. Spent many days there and then rehab.
God brought me back 85% with a chance to live. I have a TBI- brain blockage injury, PBA resulting. Lost my R. Carotid artery.
If God had brought me home that day I would never have Hunted my Brown Bear in AK. With Waggler, or have gotten to experience our 8 Grandkids.

Too many Blessings Mac - that continue!

Thanks to God for Life!

Three years ago I ha AFIB. Put the paddles on me and it disappeared. Then colon resection. Lost 8”. A few months later my right kidney was removed - 2nd cancer surgery that summer. Next year a large hernia repair with 14” of mesh. Then gastric sleeve. Last was Atrial flutter. Ablation procedure helped it. Been in OR six times in three years.

Also enjoying the green side of the grass. Just turned 75. Beginning to appreciate simpler things in life. Maybe travel a little more.

Thankful this year for my health and praying for our country, the economy, and the end of the virus.

I have been through a lot in my now 48 years on this rock I've flat lined three times had a pacemaker put in 20 years ago. I was diagnosed with a form of Muscular Dystrophy at 18 known as FSHD and spent most my life angry at God because of it. What I'm most thankful for is my relationship with the Lord and accepting Jesus as my savor. Thank you God for the gift of your son.

Great news, Mac! I am thankful for a wonderful family, fairly decent health, and being able to walk through the woods and marshes thanks to several replacement parts. Also thankful the wind is keeping the Lake and the channel where I keep my boat wide open. Hoping to end this chasing woods goat nonsense and get back out after the big Greenheads that are here.

Every day I find something to be thankful for.

But, today, being Thanksgiving, I'm concentrating on the typical, Family, Friends, Food, and Shelter, pilgrim type stuff.

Reading these posts I'm thankful for family and friends, all the usual things. I'm also thankful we have medical professionals in this country that are able to provide a better quality of life and in many cases extend people's life. In many parts of the world that isn't available. I'm thankful I was born in the USA.

Re: Seven Years Ago! - 11/26/21 12:55 PM

This New Year's Eve will be the 12th anniversary of my last chemo treatment. I asked the nurse if she would hang a 5th bag on the tree, and she asked what did I mean. I told her since it was new years eve, and my last treatment, I would like a bag of Wild Turkey. I didn't get it.

I'm thankful for my loving family that went through that ordeal with me, and for each annual checkup that I get a good report.

5 months ago I had a series of heart attacks but 2 stents later and I am fine. 3 weeks ago my 22 yr old son fell asleep at the wheel and rolled his dually but was not injured. Yesterday, we both agreed we had a lot to be thankful for.
