How do you all set up a mink den? Do you stay back a bit or set right on it? And yes I know for sure it's mink. I've trapped near dens before just curious what people here do.

I have done so by just setting a trap to cover the opening mink are not like fox or coyotes shying away from disturbance, heck I once had one charge out of the hole as I was placing the trap there, ended up with a nice scar on the base of my thumb to remember it by
I set near one den years ago and caught five, both male and female. I'm not worried about our mink population, but I can sell the males tanned more often.
