Colorado runs a good sale. They attract lots of buyers for lots of items. As Colorado cat said - if it has anything to do with wildlife and the fur trade and if it is legal to sell - most likely you will find it at the Colorado sale! !They run an open auction, not sealed bid like most western states.

They offer a reserve price option on your goods. 2% fee. Be sure to consider all aspects of what can happen if you are considering the reserve price option.

Good Luck to everyone selling and buying at that sale.

And no fur buyers license required in Colorado! Just a letter of credit from your bank. That's also why we get so many craft and smaller buyers, I think about 55-60 registered buyers show up.

Re: Colorado Fur Auction - 01/10/22 06:22 PM

Letter of credit not required if you are paying with cash or certified funds.

Help is always appreciated. Food is wonderful and plentiful along with drinks. Stories are great and always something weird or unusual to see. hippo feet were brought one year along with an elephant tale.

Re: Colorado Fur Auction - 01/12/22 06:55 PM

Yup. You see all sorts of stuff at the Colorado sale. The year I went, 1998, they had a giraffe skinned for life size. It was salted and dried in a bundle, so it was difficult to tell what you were buying. LOL

They appreciate all the help they can get. Lots of interesting people to talk to when you aren’t working.

You havent lived til you have been in the thriving metropolis of Hugo, CO. Its a cool place, if your dog runs off you can still see him 3 days later.

Re: Colorado Fur Auction - 01/14/22 04:30 AM

That can be a good thing depending on the dog.

Fur has to be shipped and received, or brought in no later than the 6th of February, not much more than three weeks from today.

You know what would be really good in conjunction with a fur sale?

A big shot gun show that's what.

The demographic is cross applicable.

Dropped some stuff off yesterday its pretty neat!

Also would recommend the bronco buster burger at Jean's if youre in Hugo. Its cream cheese and jalapenos stuffed in a burger with bacon and onion rings on top.
