Great Loss today, Up date as to why

Tragedy has struck some life long great friends family today.

Their 12 year old son took his own life this morning, no one knows any thing about how or why ! Right now it's not important.
Knowing he is gone was enough !

Keep your kids and grand kids close people, listen to them, watch what they say and how they say it, talk with them, but don't badger them either, most times we can see through them if the communication is there !

It's a very rough world for kids these day's and many of us made it past that time, still many don't.

Say a prayer for them if you have a mind to, I'm sure they will need much comfort for some time !

Parents have told us that it was a case of bullying, that they were trying to get a handle on with him, evidently a long term thing they were not aware of until just a bit ago !

Prayers are with you and your friends families! I have a seventeen year old, I feel so sad for what they are forced to deal with in their formative years now. Prayers for all those dealing with mental health issues.

That is terrible. What we are doing to kids during this lockdown/Covid crap is going to be irreversible.

I can’t imagine what must be going on in a 12 year olds life for them to make that decision. My condolences to all impacted by this tragedy

I can't think of anything worse. Had a couple around here do the same thing, wish they could understand those young years don't last long and the world will look TOTALLY different in a few short years down the road.

Terrible news...very difficult to understand what they are dealing with and by the time people around them get it, is often too late. Prayers sent.

So very sorry for your loss. Not the time or place to discuss the causes or why. I have worked with kids for 42 years, been a teacher for 30. Mental health is a major issue in our country, yes even among children.

Bullying is happening at all schools, not like we saw. My wife has contacted our middle school as our friends have kids there and The Boy will be going next year. The stories we heard were almost unbelievable but true. Kids kicking doors in in bathrooms and stealing kids pants and throwing them in trash cans on the other side of the school or just beating up the kids and telling them they will kill them if they tell. Stabbing with pencils in the hallway like after every class by many students when the target walks by again with the threats of death if teachers find out. And many equally horrible stories and yes this is 6th graders.

The Boy knows as I have told him if anyone try that with him he is expected to, first try to escape, if that is not possible then fight and don't fight fairly. He is a popular child and knows if he is on the bullying side he will not like what happens. He knows the importance of stepping up for power who can't help themselves and also knows the signs of someone trying to take advantage of his kindness. I feel too many people in this world show their kids it's important to be popular and don't raise kids to be self confident.

I don't mean to hijack the thread. My family has been rocked by suicide multiple times in almost every generation I know of, its never easy, and hardest when they are young. My deepest condolences to everyone involved, it should never happen but it does and seems more common every year. Makes me so mad to hear these kids saying f my life and why don't you kill yourself, those are sayings you will hear every day as a young person these days.
