Color phase black bears

I get so many comments on the photo of the four color phase bear mounts on my wall, I decided to do a video about them.

Kermode bears and glacier bears are out of my reach I'm afraid. That's why you always hear me calling it the grand slam of major color phases. Kermode and glacier bears are subspecies I believe, not color phases.

Nice mounts and collection of colours.
Only two colours here-black and brown.
Brown are extremely rare here.I only shot two in my life out of nearly 100 bears.

The Cubs were old enough but I figured she would protect them till she was ready to breed again. She gets a free pass when she can raise three Cubs like that.

I guess I never knew or thought about it. I have all four colors phases with archery gear. Got a dandy chocolate a couple years ago. I can claim all four with my friend in Pine Acres in Vermilion Bay Ontario. Shot the blonde many years ago, Cinnamon in between. Lots so blacks.

I used to do alot of bear control work, all over Western Oregon. I have seen only one blonde in my life, out of hundreds. The other three colors are common. Black being the usual though. I have heard lots of arguments over the difference between chocolate and cinnamon. It's easier to argue when they are side by side!

There are a lot more color phases on the dry side of the cascades.
