There was a big lynx went past there on the weekend. but seems they were checking out the camera. Put a trap in front of it next year.

I have a couple of trail cams that are not "black ops" and for night photos they emit a red light. It isn't bright but is visible if you look at the camera. Critters notice it and some come to investigate. There is also probably some residual human scent on the camera. Coyotes and deer that come by those cameras obviously notice. Fox and coon don't seem to notice, I think because it is far enough above their line of sight, but then a feral cat does notice.

Before putting a trap in front of one, I'd be sure it is legal and that the camera could not be considered some kind of electronic attractant if that would be illegal. Also, I'd be sure the camera couldn't be reached by the catch.

Thanks for sharing the photos.

It would be a thrill to setup cameras in the wilderness.

I wear surgical gloves when handling the cameras to reduce residual scent to minimize the chance of animals smelling the camera and then finding it. It helps tremendously. Most of my cameras are black flash. It is very rare tha any animal noticed the camera. With the few low glow red infrared cameras I place them high or low, or looking out from brush to hide them. Then only occasionally does an animal notice it.

I miss my white flash cameras that took color photos at night.

Thanks for the tips Willy the animals don't seem to care about the camera. They seem to look right at it.
