Sovereign citizens - 03/17/22 02:47 PM

Do you know one or ever see their actions on you tube. Some of them are plain nuts. They think federal or state laws don’t apply to them. They lose every time in court battles even admonishing judges that they don’t have jurisdiction to try them.

They always lose

Re: Sovereign citizens - 03/17/22 03:03 PM

We should be sovereigns to the fullest extent possible, that's the idea the guys who wrote our constitution had in mind. When our political system has been corrupted to the point where there is no opposition, the idea of individual sovereignty doesn't sound quite so kooky.

Sounds like chaos to me if everybody just chooses for themselves what is law and what is not.

Keep in mind AOC is a lawmaker. That might not bother you.

Plenty of lawmakers I don't particularly care for...and plenty of laws too. In my limited scope I try to influence against the ones I don't like. It's the democratic way.

So....you don't believe in democracy? Too bad. A lot of great Americans have died protecting ours.

You mean cops? They are the only people I’m aware that have qualified immunity from the law.

Get the popcorn ready boys.

I know the type; Quanon, Sovereign Citizen, etc..
The couple who I know remind me of the old "Moonies", Hari Krishna's,
and other goofy cults.
With a blank stare on their face they just regurgitate
a lot of nonsense.

I'm all for hating taxes and the government, but from what I've read and watched, those people are nuts.

Political flat earthers.

Re: Sovereign citizens - 03/17/22 04:43 PM

I agree. However, our federal government has done nothing to dispel the very real belief that there is a dual justice system in this country depending on one's political affiliation or economic station in life.

I think some credibility in that venue would go some ways in tamping down the crazies.

How have they done that White?

Not prosecuting obvious illegal acts ?? Or prosecute one person but not another for the same transgression ??

Re: Sovereign citizens - 03/17/22 05:00 PM

Agree. We should hammer the BLM rioters and the January 6 rioters with equal vigor.

Re: Sovereign citizens - 03/17/22 05:03 PM

people who can afford good lawyers dont get the same punishment if any that the normal person would.
That is the Capitalist way-same with healthcare-pay to play.
Everything else is just dirty socialism right?

I hear you on some of that. I think it is more of a localized issue rather than federal. I'm thinking of riots in Portland as an example.

That's not what he said. We are a republic, yes, but we use democracy to govern. That doesn't mean we are a democracy. Two different meaning to the word.

Or equal protection... Like allowing bail for everyone.

"Hammer" covered all of it.

Re: Sovereign citizens - 03/17/22 05:42 PM

And the "hammer" is why we have a "pick and choose" justice system.

Last I heard the presumption is innocent until proven guilty. Everyone gets bail and is presumed innocent until their fair and speedy trial... Or the hammer is all you have. And a hammer lives to find nails.

Many of these Sovcits want to represent themselves in court and make all kind of ridiculous claims tying up the courts.

I believe in the wisdom of limited government. Not exactly what we're living with today. Biden intends to hire 87,000 new IRS agents...to go after Jeff Bezos, I'm sure.

IRS don't waste time on small potatoes. They go for the bigger money...I'm safe! grin
