NDFTA Fur Sailed

NDFTA Fur Sailed - 03/27/22 01:15 AM

Well lets say it sailed and sank. I feel it was very poor timing at best.
$23.15 avg on put up coyotes 62% sold. Coons 6-$8 Red fox 8=$10 Muskrats $3 and change Beaver $10 Everything other than coyotes is a SWAG. I was calling out lots and winning buyers so I did not write anything down. Better numbers to follow.
Thanks to the NDFTA board for putting this on and supporting your members. Thanks to the buyers for showing up and I hope you make money on everything you bought and wish you had bought more. Thanks to the members who showed up to sell fur and to the ones that stuck around and helped clean up.

Kudos Mark for still trying to make it happen, things are tough, but the associations have to put forth the effort! Thanks

Was the antler offered like ? Seems like not much $ if clean and brown

Re: NDFTA Fur Sailed - 03/28/22 10:59 PM

Most of the antler was not clean and brown. But the buyers, said it took a hit along with most everything. Antler and caster.

I am always amazed that you can have buyers with a few over 1000 pelts. We tried for 3 years with more and had 3 buyers one year. We discontinued due to not having buyers interested. I am however very glad for the posts and the work that you and your members do to provide a service and fellowship for your members. During these low fur price times having sales and auctions is a very good way to keep some energy in the membership and fellowship is even more important then when checks are big.

One thing that limits the number of buyers, is that most of them are buying for another country buyer. How many buyers does the big country buyer need at a sale. Often trappers wonder why a buyer doesn't show up and often its because there is someone else there buying for their sugar daddy. They don't compete against themselves. I feel that the all ending up in one pile, no matter who bought it is a big part of the dead fur market we have now. Most all the road buyers are buying for someone else.

Let it be known far and wide you have 300 ND yotes and I'd think someone will be getting ahold of you. Some say marketing an item is harder than producing it. Not just fur but everything.

I was told at our sale there were a lot of coyotes in the field yet by a buyer. The coyote boom has sailed and is in the sinking stage. I am sure you can find a home for them, but at what level? Best of luck to you Mark.

Were the antlers brown or weathered?

With the price of gas and coyotes, you would need a good day to pay for the trip now.
