The last time I priced them they were 30lb, and that was 10 yrs. ago so counting for inflation and local economy I figured them between 35 to 50 now. So 58 x 50, bout 2900. Aprx. I know I'd pay 25 in a hart beat for fresh like those pictures.

I'd bet foxkid from ill. Could tell us a close (to me) local price.

Edit to fix math.

Heck yeah Matt that's a great haul. Our black ones are just now starting. We got a couple inches of snow yesterday so it's been a weird year. I won't start finding a bunch until another week or two. Hers a few from Fridays turkey hunting [Linked Image]

Re: Morels 2022 - 04/11/22 06:33 AM

Do you guys find the blacks in the same places as the yellows? I can find a bunch of yellows every year but rarely find any blacks. Or maybe I don't start looking early enough an they're already gone? How long before the yellows come up do the blacks pop up?

Re: Morels 2022 - 04/11/22 09:08 AM

great job guys we still have snow in woods here, end of May, normally went we start get them

Re: Morels 2022 - 04/11/22 12:37 PM

The blacks will be earlier. I start looking when the 3 day average soil temp gets over 50. The big yellows are a sign the season is coming to a end around here. Usually day time Temps are in the high 70's for a while when they show.

Re: Morels 2022 - 04/15/22 04:51 PM

Really enjoy bringing friends over to my place to pick Morel's,this year might be a little later than most 12 above this morning and we just had two plus days of snow.Next Friday it's going to start warming up a little 48 to 50 for highs. Most years by the 10th of May we are going good, last year was 800 plus 2 years cold and dry only 198,the year before was well over a thousand.Lot's of moisture this year so when it warms up it should be another great harvest,my guess is May 14th we will be picking Morels and Fiddleheads.

Re: Morels 2022 - 04/27/22 02:35 PM

At least 2 weeks before we will have a chance to pick any morels or fiddleheads here,2 weeks behind we still have plenty of snow in the woods,it should be melted off by May 10th this year.May 15th to the 17th should be our target date this year.

They are starting up here now. These I found on my place, I'll go out for more later. Always black morels, and so good dried to use all year.
