It is 8 here right now. The calf should be fine in the shelter out of the wind and dry. Some straw would not hurt. I am glad it went well.

Kinda like lambing in January around here. Glad they are doing good. Yup… keep them on some dry bedding and out of the wind. And dry them off good

You guys need to Lamb/ Calve in a warmer climate--- grin --- I don't worry about my sheep at all untill the temps reach about 15 degrees.Of course almost all of my lambing is inside the barn -- I worry more about the wind and rain than I do the cold temps.

Lambing and calving is definetely a special time of year -- full of great joy and great heartbreak -- long hours and lack of sleep -- wouldn't trade it for anything.

Another Nice looking calf.

When I raised pigs they always waited till the coldest day of the year to deliver.

Lucky she used the barn. I've had cows walk a half mile over bare ground to calve in a snow drift. Sometimes they make you shake your head.

Change in weather always brings them on, I’m glad you’ve been having a good calving season.

Put the little things in the shed. We might get dumped on tomorrow night. At least for a day or two.

Yeah otherwise you’d be finding the colostrum and bottle feeding it about every 6 hours.

Why is that? Bull calf will be cut fed and sold at some point, right? You need to replace a heifer or 2?

My friend puts the bulls in to have the cows calve in mid May on grass and sunshine. Says it’s the best decision he’s ever made.

Why is that had to figure out? Do you think there is a reason the deer fawn then?
