Some people I swear

Get woken up early by a phone call, answer it, it's one of the guys under me at work. Kids on a bunch of puffed up rah rah crap about how works screwing him over because his check is next to nothing for two week.
This is the exact same kid who will gripe and moan the entire shift about not being able to leave early. We're are scheduled 4p.m-9p.m we usually finish our main job in 2-3 hours. Then for the rest of the shift they just want us to do little piddly stuff. Go get buggies, help customers, sweep this isle , do your daily online training......easy money. But no they feel working their butts off for 2hr and going home makes perfect sense.

Whatever my manager hase just been saying whatever lately and just letting them go. End up work 4x as hard for a 1/4 of a shift to leave We tried to warn them it's not a good idea . Only one has a second job but whatever.

Ask the kid if he's looking at his time sheet. He says yeah. I ask how many hours it says he made the last two weeks ,say like 26. I ask how much he makes an hour says $11 something. I get really quiet hoping something would click...... Nope he asks how much I usually make , I tell him , he starts going off again, I tell him I'm averaging like 50hr a week ( they let use come early and leave late alot because we're understaffed many times). Kid say he doesn't see how that matters , and how j need to talk to someone about fixing his check and getting him a raise.....
One thing about me, I really don't like getting woken up early especially for stupid crap like this.... I just cut him off tell him I'll bring him to the store supervisor and we'll have a chat about it when I clock in and hang up.....
Lord have mercy, I'm so happy I'm moving to another position next week

My phone goes on DO NOT DISTURB at 10pm and comes off at 6am.

I tell the 20 or so under me they can call or text any time but don't expect an answer/reply until I get to it

Oh and I have some that will whine about wanting time but leave like the place is on fire if given the opportunity

Basically since my department has never really had a actual manager until like last few months and know I know how to run stuff back here they made me a "lead" I'm basically the middle man between the crews they keep hiring the department supervisors and the store supervisor. Most of the time if they have a problem they tell me because their terrified to talk to anyone in charge
So no I'm not their literal boss but I'm like a pseudo manager foreman type thing.

Honestly it just makes life easier for me loleasy to be a great employee surrounded by lady people

Well,,if you have a problem listening to gripes or grievances,,,you shouldn't have accepted the "Lead" position.Comes with the territory.I was Union Steward for the Steelworkers at our shop for 30 years.I know all about hearing gripes and grievances.Problems need to be solved.

It's just part of supervising laborers. There's a chunk of society that believes everyone else is taking advantage of them even when they cause 99% of their own problems.

If your in a leadership position you need to make the young punks do what is best for them whether they like it or not...

Lol wasn't even something I accepted it was something I more or less got branded with. But whatever I've been working on my mentality with stuff, most of it's just white noise now. I just nod my head and shrug. As long as I'm not getting called early before work it's just whiners whining. Gone though like 30 of em by now . Water of the ducks back.
Actually just learned that this crew talks alot a crap about me behind my back, they been purposely been doin alot to make me look bad to eveyone else. Some stuff about how they hate how I'm good with all the supervisors and what not . It's all fine and dandy though. Just got locked into a new little gravy position working over nights . Haven't said a thing to anyone who doesn't need to know.

We just fired a guy for acting that way. He decided to chew out his supervisor because he wasn’t getting paid enough. I work for the department of transportation, there’s a very well defined pay scale based on your years of service and certifications, it’s all laid out in black and white and everyone starts at the same place no matter where you came from. They tell you straight up your pay is not gonna be good for the first two years. Stick it out and after that you’ll get good pay on top of our incredible benefits package. He still felt the need to gripe and holler at his supervisor, so they canned him. No room on our crews for guys like that.

You going to be doing the 9-6 over night freight or the overnight MST job?

Always going to be a few boneheads on every job with multiple people. I do my best to ignore them. Those kind seem to have a new job every few months any way. If you watch the ones with kids that get big welfare checks at tax time, usually dont work anywhere till they spend their "refund". They all crowd into h and r block about Feb.1 and get the bank loan that gives them 2/3 of their return or whatever that day. Now if ever there was a money maker with no effort and almost no risk, those tax loans are it. They make more than the payday loan places.

You shouldn't assume so much, and underestimate folks life experience. How do you know that you may sound to many here, like the punk that called you sounds to you?

It's too bad that a lot of kids today are already ruined before they ever start their first job. Everything is handed to them, grades in school, trophies for not winning, $100 allowances, you get where this is going. To top it off, Mom and Dad never think it's little Jonny's fault. Their little angel is perfect. They are growing up in an entitlement culture. Many of these kids will probably never change without some really hard times. In fact, the parents are doing nothing good for their kids by allowing this. Most brought up this way will not survive a really rough patch in their lives. They will be unable to cope and turn to drugs and alcohol. We are seeing that now. A lot of these kids couldn't cope with wearing a mask and being locked down for a while. Can you imagine a real tragedy like another depression or another great war where everything is rationed? Many will never survive.

Poor kid probably doesn't make enough money to put a new sexy tattoo on his skank.

I'm sure many of us haven't worked retail and if we did it wasn't for long. Low paying jobs aren't known for attracting the best workers. You may get a few but not many.
