My little dog

My little dog - 04/27/22 10:26 PM

My wife and I had to put our little dog down last night. He had congestive heart failure. He was struggling for every breath. We are mourning. I have not cried this much since I was a little boy. He slept on his pillow between us every night. We miss him so much.

I had to put down my little dog about a year ago-same thing-congestive heart failure.
It came on the poor old guy pretty fast, but did not like to see him suffer.

I dread the day …..These 20 pounds dogs are the best …yup , a little furnace in the bed. And what a personality. Sorry for your loss Brother…I cry more for my pets than family and friends too

Those dogs.....They work their way right into our hearts.....everytime. Sorry for your loss. I now have two little Doxies 7 years apart, my selfish way of always having one to pet while I cry over the other. Again so sorry....

It sucks. We had to put down our little rat terrier a few years ago. She was 14. They are a member of the family. Hang in there.

Re: My little dog - 04/28/22 01:18 AM

Dang it Gogitter! Now I have what appears to be an eye irritant in both eyes at the same time. We lost our sweet little dog 3 years ago and it was a rough week afterwards. But after that, I seemed to only remember the good times and smiled when I did. I hope that same transition comes your way real soon.

Lost our dog in Jan., wrecked me for quite awhile. Had a dog my whole life and it hurts every time they leave. Time helps heal so does another dog.

Re: My little dog - 04/28/22 01:06 PM

I am truly heartbroken at your loss. Ive always had dogs..and to me it never gets easier when you have to have one put down.

It sounds bad but the best way to help ease the pain is to get another one.
It doesn't replace the one you've lost. It just gives you another one to devote your time to.
Jerry lost his dog of 19 years a few years back..he has no kids so RP was the same as his kid.

I got him another pup..he named shorty and it helped him to heal from losing RP.

I'm really sorry your heart is hurting.

Last four lines in a Robert Service poem, "My Dog"...

"I have no hope at all of heaven,
I've lived in sin and strife;
But thank God! I at least have given,
One dog a happy life."

i lost mine to a form of leukemia.about 6 weeks ago, She was 8 years old. a good dog. When they are gone it takes a small piece out of ya. I got a new pup last week. It does not replace her but I have another friend to start all over.

Horrible heart aching feeling for such a loss especially for a dog so close to you The crudely of death still can’t shatter your memories of the little one. You will meet again on the Rainbow Bridge

Take great pride and comfort in knowing you gave that dog everything you could and received so much in return.

Sorry for your loss. Had to put my Border collie down in October 1st pic. Then I had to put my new pup (2nd pic) down in December. Definitely a couple rough months. Last pic is my new helper. She thinks this corn planting is for the birds.

Re: My little dog - 04/29/22 02:32 AM

GG - I am very sorry for your loss. It is terrible pain to lose a best friend, confidante, and family member. They truly become part of us. My dogs have made me a better person. If and when it seems right, look for a new friend who will help. Cherish your memories.

Nessy - what breed is that intriguing pup?

Pawnee - that is very rough misfortune. The new gal seems to be doing well and not too stressed.

Condolences to everyone else who has lost a cherished companion.
