This isn't one of those, "how many coons do you see?" posts is it? I suck at those.

A nice little leek patch. Cathryn calls them ramps. We've always called them leeks.

Dang elkie..that's one heck of a cash crop right there. Very nice find.

We are actually selling the last of the season ramps today.

We've made over 9000 on them this spring.
We hoped to make more but were happy..and tired.
It's been long 5 weeks and I'm tired
Lol

That's a leek/ramp patch. All the green are leeks. You could dig in there for days and not get them all.

Heck. You can pick just the tops..and lavw the bulbs in the ground an make dang good money to. If you have the right buyer.

Last week we had a guy wanting 100 lbs of tops.
It took us 3 hours to pick 104 pounds and we got paid 8.00 a pound for a total of 832.00 for 3 hrs pick time.
That's DANG good money for sure. It came to 278.00
An hour.

Re: Cathryn - 05/08/22 02:50 PM

We get 3.00 a.dozen washed but with roots attached or 6.00 a.pound for the qhole.ramp or 8 a pound if we just pick the leaves.

It's easier to pick hw tops and all the than to dig but most.people want the whole.plant.

Our main guy is a veteran who runs a large truck farm.and makes various products..like BBQ sauce etc with the ramps which he sells at farmers .markets.
