Identify this weed - 05/10/22 04:15 PM

Got a new "unwanted vegetation" that has showed up in our new blueberry field. Never seen it before on our farm in my 65 years. It looks similar to miners lettuce and showed up after a sulfur treatment to lower pH.

Nope, that's not it. Leaves are different. No serrations on what I've got.

You might have to translate that into West Virginian.

Round-leaved Alexanders (Smyrnium rotundifolium) I think. Some other plants from the carrot family also have these peculiar leaves, e.g. species of thoroughwax (Bupleurum).

Don't think so Tatiana. You may be looking at the pic that Cathryn posted? What I have is so similar to miner's lettuce (Portulacaceae) that I'm almost convinced it is. It is definitely very succulent like miner's lettuce.

The 2 weeds we struggle with are galinsoga and chickweed. Thank you for the weed thread, beaverpealer.

You guys may be right. The pictures that I see o miner's lettuce show the flowers nestle right on middle of the leaf but you will notice mine is up off the leaf on a little stock.

A couple more pics:

And of course I'm curious as to how it suddenly showed up in one of my fields where it has never been seen before. Head scratcher.
