Permethrin for clothing

Permethrin for clothing - 05/12/22 08:49 PM

Anyone that sprays their clothing with permethrin for ticks, what dilution rate do you use?
I picked up permethrin 10 % from Tractor supply last year on sale and would like to use that instead of the small yellow bottles that say it's for clothing. The tractor supply stuff has a bunch of ratios for various critters but nothing specific for ticks on clothing.
Spraying for ticks and fleas on dogs say a little over an ounce, (1.3) oz per gallon.

Any advice always appreciated.

yes I spray clothing , I mix with the ratio for dog kennels the bottle should have a dog kennel on premise mixing instructions
mine is the 13% so 1 ounce per gallon

the 10% is right about 1.3 ounces per gallon

I buy Sawyers, it's already diluted to 0,5%. That doesn't sound like much but it works.

I guess what's the best place to buy permethrin in bulk and dilute yourself for buildings, clothing?

I use a pump up sprayer garden sprayer , label it and only use it for that

add the water , pour in the permethrin , pump it up , shake it a bit , hang the cloths on the fence or cloths line spray wet and let dry flip and repeat

don't do this near your bait tank , cat or any place with fish

I try and stand up wind when spraying

you can also mix in a bucket and soak the cloths then hang to dry

the commercial version is just a higher concentration , it lasts longer like 6 months rather than 6 weeks

bough in the quart jug the 13.3% makes 33 gallons of solution per quart a quart is about 20 dollars

the 10% makes about 24 gallons for around 16 dollars , it may have gone up that is what I recal paying

once it is dry it is no risk to cats or fish

Is there any type of clothing that it isn't safe to spray it on? Such as hip boots and snake chaps? Just wondering if it will degrade the rubber or nylon or anything. Also, would it possibly contaminate the water even after it was dry? I have never used it before but will be trapping nuisance beaver soon in an area that will require a walk of a couple hundred yards thru head high grass. Have a feeling that ticks and snakes are going to be as much a problem as the beaver are.

Simply put a large dog flea and tick collar loosely around the ankle of each boot.
Cut off the excess.
Tape the buckle with electrical tape to prevent slipping.
14 years doing this and not one tick on me.

that is basically permethrin infused plastic that is why it works some are a similar insecticide

this is the same thing but binds to the fibers of the clothing and you can make 33 gallons for around 20 dollars

flea collars are around 4-5 dollars each for the cheapest
