Rhubarb picked and first pie

Of this season, gave the neighbor a bunch to send to her mother in Florida and I cut up and bagged 32 cups for us. Love rhubarb pie and I am looking forward to trying this one.

Oh yes. Rhubarb and strawberry is a good combo too.

The only bad part about that pie is the rhubarb. Ruined it!

Rhubarb pie, rhubarb cobbler, a bowl of cooked rhubarb or some on some vanilla ice cream, rhubarb wine. All good.

Wife made a rhubarb pie last week, gone already. I agree it doesn’t need strawberries, but I will not turn down a strawberry rhubarb pie.

Darn right on all accounts rhubarb anything is darn fine eating with a scoop of homemade ice cream to go with it !

Need to make some strawberry/rhubarb jam as well. That one is Gerri's favorite and we go through it fairly quickly.

My last trip up north, I had to try the strawberry/rhubarb pie. Some of the nastiest stuff I ever had in my mouth. Not even good survival food. Everybody keeps saying how "good it looks"; well, all you can see of it is a very good looking crust. Cut it so that we can see what it really looks like. Sorry, just don't like it. YUK!

And just in the interest of science……I cut up 7 lbs of rhubarb and froze in four cup freezer bags…… four bags at four cups each= four pies. With room in each pie for a mixture of some kind of berries.

I love pies.One of my favorites is HOT Apple pie,with a slice of cheddar cheese on it,,and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of that.

Do you do anything in particular to freeze or just pop in a bag and freeze?
