Does anyone have any experience using the rattlesnake vaccine in their dogs?
Even if your dog hasn’t been bitten I’d like the info on the vaccine.
In my area the only two poisonous snakes I’ve seen or heard of are timber rattler an copperheads.
Of the two, I have the most sightings with the timber rattlers

I got them for my two coyote dogs a couple times as they stick their head in ever prairie dog hole possible, which our prairie rattlers also like. Had to get a shot then go back a month later for another shot. Pretty cheap, never had any bad reactions or anything. I asked my vet about what he thought about them and he said if you can get them here in an hour you will likely be fine without the shot, so I didn’t get them this year. I have had a couple co-workers vaccinated dogs get hit and they had very mild swelling.

I thought dogs were somewhat immune to rattlers...maybe I'm misinformed!

No their not, though because they don’t panic like people do it’s slower acting, and most dogs get bit in he face or neck, which can lead to trouble breathing due to swelling

I got it for my old dog as she was a snake killing machine, I swear that dog could find the only snake in the middle of
A hundred acre field in seconds, and got bit numerous times, so it was a cheap investment

If your dog is going to be around them I would get it just to be safe

Thanks for the info. Definitely going to get it.
Does the dog have to be a certain age before it can get the vaccine?
