The greatest signed item in baseball hist? - 05/25/2210:01 PM
I saw this at one of my fav lil road houses at Salado TX. If I was going to start a sports memorabilia collection this would be the first thing I would want!

The back story: Nolan Ryan was either 40 or near it and when a 25 yr old charged the mound. As you can see he defended it with valor. This is basically my fav all time sports moment

I got a story for you Lefty ... when I was in 4th or 5th grade I had to do an essay about a famous athlete or something along those lines... my dear momma said “ write Nolan Ryan a letter telling him you want to write the essay about him and I’ll mail it” .... I did and a few days later an autograph copy of his book “ throwin heat “ signed to me with a good luck in school message showed up at the house... I figured he was an alright hand after that lol

Back in my baseball days, when I played was the catcher nobody scored without getting slammed. Even if I didn’t have the ball.
An umpire yelled at me that baseball is NOT a full contact sport. I said it is the way I play it. Got thrown out of a couple games but it was fun as …..

Cool story. Nolan Ryan and Terry Bradshaw are prolly my fav sports stars of all time once you leave the rodeo arena, Both were classy guys if you ask me (even if Bradshaw is a yankee LOL)

Bradshaw is from Louisiana. Good football player does not describe him in full , what 4 or 5 super bowl wins and 8 championships . Yea he was pretty good. My favorite was Walt Garrison, year round cowboy .

I used to work with a boy from Alvin tx., Nolans home town, he said Nolan would come around and pitch at the little league ball park sometimes. He would pitch to every boy until they got a hit. They could later say they got a hit off Nolan Ryan. Pretty cool.

Baseball could use some of that today. Gotta love and respect Mr. Ryan!

Man that is a great story. We will never know how many young people he inspired to work hard and achieve their dream. Thank you for sharing that one.
