Enjoy Memorial Day, but remember why. - 05/28/22 08:55 PM

To all of my brothers and sisters that gave their all, you are remembered.

And I pray that it was not in vain.

God save the Republic.

Great post warrior. Sometimes we forget the real reason.

This is a VERY special day of remembrance.

Remembrance is a Mercy and a Blessing from God.
A very special Mercy indeed.

So that we can remember those things we cherish and those special people we miss with all our hearts (so much so, we can't explain without tearing up).
Can we even imagine the pain if we were to forget?
So we remember, even though it's very hard to do.
Praise God

I see God every time a parent of a soldier killed in the service for us all tears up when we are together talking about the things that REALLY matter.
They usually say at some point, as they begin to cry, "I'm so sorry," but I gently say to help them in that moment, "please don't be sorry for the tears which are simply emotions your body can't keep inside any longer, which tell me that you are made by God and His wonderful Mercy to remember your son/daughter/husband/wife/friend. Can we only imagine the tragedy if you were to forget. I see love in your tears so embrace the tears as testimony of what they really are."

Thank you to all who have sacrificed much for us all.
Good post Warrior!

Blessings,
Mark

Greater love have no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13

The soldier above all others prayes for peace, for it is the soldier who must suffer and bear the deepest wounds ands scars of war
Douglas MacArthur

God thank you for the strength of these men and women who have stood in the gap for the freedoms you have bestowed upon us, both those in the past but those also in the future

Years and years ago back when schools actually tried to teach students I remember our teachers sitting us down and explaining just what Memorial Day was and why we celebrate it, here’s what I learned that day

The Original name for Memorial Day is Decoration day and was for the laying of flowers on the graves of soldiers who had died in the civil war from both sides, and the date in May was chosen so that flowers would be in bloom across the nation as well as the end of may not having any historical major battles, and later become a day of memorial during WW1

To me it will always be the day my dad would lay flowers on his brothers graves then join friends anf family and tell stories and end up drinking to much, it’s the only time I ever seen him drunk or cry

Way to many forget just what the price is and who has paid it for their freedom

Same here

And remember folks this is NOT Veterans Day (thanks to the vets don’t get me wrong, but Memorial Day is about those who died while serving)

Memorial Day is a very special day for me also. I carry this inspirational verse on a card in my bill fold. I don't know the author to give proper credit to.

SOLDIER
I was that which others did not want to be.
I went where others feared to go,
and did what others feared to do.
I asked nothing from those who gave nothing,
and reluctantly accepted the thought of eternal loneliness...
should I fail.

I have seen the face of terror; felt the stinging cold of fear,
and enjoyed the sweet taste of a moments love.
I have cried, pained, and hoped...
but most of all,
I have lived times others say were best forgotten.
At least someday I will be able to say that I was proud of what I was...
a SOLDIER.

Will be spending tomorrow out at the TN Veterans Cemetery visiting a few old friends. Flags In activities going on today with the local scout troops. I have a reserved parking space here one of these days, can’t think of a better spot.

My wife's father was killed in a plane crash in 1966. The Men of Honor movie where they are looking for the bomb off of Spain is the crash he died in.
