WTA D5 Rondy Saturday, June 25-Demos Posted!

It's that time of the year again, folks!!!!!!! District 5 of the Wisconsin Trappers Association is holding their 2022 Summer Rondy and meeting on Saturday, June 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is being held at the Joe Pietrek, Jr. County Park at N31500 State Rd. 93 just north of Arcadia, WI.
Demos (TBA) will start at 9:00 a.m. with the District Meeting at 1:00 p.m.

Admission is free and WTA membership is not required. There will be Kids' Games, Trapping Demos, Vendors, and plenty of room for Tailgaters! We will have some great bucket raffles and more prizes are always appreciated.

The building will open at 7:30. There will be drinks and doughnuts for sale before the food truck arrives.

9:30 Muskrat Walt Legge-"Tips for Trapping in the Water"
10:00 Jimmy - "330 Trapping"
10:30 Jordan Sell -"Beaver Skinning"
11:30 Jimmy -"DP (Dog Proof) Trapping for Kids"

The District 5 Fundraiser features a great Gun Raffle!!!!!!!!!!
1st Prize-Tikka T3x 30-06 Rifle or $500 Cash
2nd Prize-Henry .22 Lever Action or $200 Cash
3rd Prize-Ruger Wrangler .22 LR Pistol or $150 Cash
Tickets are $5 each, 3 for $10, or 7 for $20. They are available from D5 members or at the event. Need not be present to win. Drawing at 3 p.m.

The 25th? I had it on my calendar as the 16th. Dang thought it was the third Saturday in June. The Boy and I well be in Wyoming at their state rondezvous. Sorry to be missing it.

Rodgers not confirmed yet but good sources tell me that Tom Brady will be attending.

Kaepernick said he would come and bring several dozens of new traps to give away to anyone in attendance and WTA D5 told him to cram them and stay away.

Is this a one day show?

Yep, just Saturday. Wife and I are talking about taking the motorhome up there on Friday and making it a very mini-vacation though. Not sure on that yet. Only around 30 miles from home so maybe I can actually afford the gas!

In any case I will most likely have a good assortment of hunting, fishing, and trapping antiques for sale up there. The raffles and conversation are worth the trip!

I have to clean up a bunch of antique hatchets, axes, and knives that I will have for sale up there.

I'm a little puzzled, I sent $21 cash for raffle tickets to the address I have for Jim Gordon and didn't get the stubs back. That's the first time in 3 years that that's happened. Maybe he's busy and forgot to send them. Hope the money got to him.
I guess from now on I'll send a check to make sure. I'll still buy tickets anyway as it's a good cause.

My best suggestion is to give Jim Gordon a call. His number is listed in the original post. I honestly do not know if he's at the same address or not.

Nittany, it was $20.00 plus a $1 for a stamp and envelope. I've done it before for the same raffle without a problem. I didn't want to inconvenience him by having to go to the bank, but I will do it that way from now on.

Moosetrot, I did a google search and it looks like he's still there but those aren't always up to date.

Badger23-I do know that Jim had a loss that could have affected his mailing address. Again, I would suggest you give him a telephone call.

Moosey,going through one of my closets,I came upon a poster for the district 5 rendezvous Saturday June 28,2008. I was set up as a vendor and also did a beaver demo. It was at arctic springs park in Galesville. The poster looks like new,LOL wish we looked that good.
Thought it was kind of ironic finding it now. Brought back some good times and memories.

I was probably there, Tom! I have only missed one or two in the last 20-25 years. That was always a nice place to hold the Rondy.

Hey Moosetrot is there much for covered area in case of rain?Drove by a couple month ago and it looked like they had a couple shelters or buildings back there.

Yup, we rented one of the shelters. Plenty of room for the meeting, raffles, and general BSing. Vendors and tailgaters should plan on setting up outside and there's lots of shade.

Well, despite the rain in the morning, D5 pulled off another great Summer Rondy. The demos were great and much appreciated by the crowd. Turnout was good. As usual the raffles were great and my Grandson will wind up with his first pair of gauntlets and even a muskrat colony trap compliments of Muskrat Walt. It looked to me like the vendors did well. I came home with a few less antique hatchets and bought what seems like some good castor from JSell. Will give it a try this year.

All in all, and as usual, WTA D5 pulled off another great event! Great to see so many of the Trapperman Crew there! Good to put a face to the name Mad Scientist!

Nice to see some young people at the demos asking questions.Thanks to all putting in the time to make this happen.

I've been to several and I think D5 puts on phenomenal events.

I hope we can see some pictures.

I guess I dropped the ball on that one.

Had a very enjoyable day with great people

Nittany asked for pictures and I'm afraid the only ones I got were a couple of bad ones showing the axes, hatchets, and other stuff I had for sale. This year we were lucky enough to be able to set up inside the building. At gun shows I usually set up on 24 feet of tables with risers and shelves behind them and still stuff is stacked all over itself. I pared things down quite a bit but still did pretty good!

Muskrat Walt-Gave my Grandson Sawyer the colony trap you gave him! I think we already ave a private pond figured out where he can give it a try next season!
