Seen these before?

Got some traps pulled together to give to one of my nephews, and pulled these off the jaws before the traps left my hands. Has anyone used these before? I could see them being a hindrance rather than a helpful tool, but I don't speak from experience with them. I believe they're a product of the 70's or 80's?

I had some handed down to me that had those added. While we can use teeth here I don’t see a need for it. Need a tetanus shot after touching them. Lol.

We can use toothed trap, but those are not allowed.

Much older than you have estimated. They were widely promoted and utilized in the earlier parts of last century and may have helped hold slippery wet feet caught in weak traps.

i believe they were called "hold fast jaws". i remember them in the catalogs 50 years ago, when i was a kid. i think they were "new old stock" back then.

Hold Fast jaws they were called. Most Trapper Supply catalogs had them in the 1960 's

F.C. Taylor had them in their catalog about 1969/70.
BTW, if anyone knows where I could get that catalog from those years I'd sure be interested in hearing from you.

Had a bunch that were new years ago and sold them.

Stan Hawbaker still had them for sale in his 1974-75 catalog at $1.75/dozen. Never tried them because traps with teeth were illegal in NY State.

I'm pretty sure I saw these for sale in sterling fur catalogs up into the mid 90s. They were advertised as hold fast jaws "teeth".
