Of course, disregarding Winchester's legal contracts , and oh, something called the Constitution, the Marxist regime simply runs roughshod over all that to get their way.

There has to be some major legislative walls to impede this , within each state .

I know I sound tin-hatish, but I've been saying for years now that our ammo and component shortages are not because of "hoarders".

There's no reason companies haven't ramped up production to meet a growing demand that started 30 years ago under Clinton.
Any other industry would've unless there's behind the scene reasons.

Take our recent oil industry as an example?

I don't understand. How can Biden tell a private manufacture to stop selling to a select demographic? Is he maybe threatening Winchester with their contract for the military, otherwise why wouldn't Winchester tell Biden to pound sand?

George Soros anyone? He's given billions in the name of "philanthropy" in the U.S, yet he's Hungarian and he hates the U.S.

I would love to think that a private company could just step up and build a new plant --- but they would never get past the red tape to break ground. Guess who is adding to the red tape as we speak.

Been my opinion of the shortages for decades.

Re: Biden restrictions on 223/556 ?? - 06/16/22 06:39 PM

Too expensive. Same reason oil companies and refiners won't put up the money for new facilities. Permits and government promises to put you out of business.

A new refinery might take three years to build once the permits are in hand. Then about 3-5 billion to build it. It would take at least 20 years to pay off that expense. All the while the feds are destroying your industry.

Same with ammo manufacturing. Feds could prohibit the raw materials overnight if they wanted to.

Who would risk capital in that environment ?

But I can still buy military brass for now.

This might also have something to do with the addition of, and change to, the 6.8x51 cartridge that will be produced at Lake City

Re: Biden restrictions on 223/556 ?? - 06/16/22 08:21 PM

Ammo inc is also on line in WI

this also didn't appear to state XM193 just ss109 and m855

most civilians would shoot XM193

Winchester has the contract to operate , they could not re-sing the contract when time is up and put every dime of profits into operating it's other plants

the LC plant is also tooling up for 6.8x51 with new buildings that ammo will be substantially more expensive than the 855 or 109 those will have to increase in price to Gov contract a bunch of weekend shooters can run more ammo on a weekend that the army uses in a month

if you take the profit out of Lace city then who will bid on the contract later ?

does it specify that LC can't make and sell excess brass that is not a loaded round ? that could as profitable semi loads of brass sent to other loading companies

how will it influence the pull down market every out of spec round would have to be pulled down rather than resold if they miss velocity minimum by a margin.

there are an estimated 20 million regular target shooters in the US and the break down is 12 million rifle , 13 million pistol , 10 million shotgun and 3 million muzzle loader , with some obvious overlap

every time there is an ammo crunch people buy more shoot a little less and billions more rounds of ammo go into private ownership.

I wouldn't say there's no new plants opening. This was in January near Texarkana

Yep. Told my sons a while back that if you're gonna buy a gun it needs to be .223/5.56, 9mm, .40, or .308. They asked why? I said because you can likely find more on dead soldiers and citizens.

Technically we are not a free country. If those in power say no, they will get their way. Just like certain books that were not allowed to be published. Yes, it's hsppened.

Bubba took his stimulus check to the gun stores in record numbers. Inventory was wiped out the first week.
