Flo can go pound sand!

Flo can go pound sand! - 06/21/22 04:55 PM

So I bought a (New to me) travel trailer yesterday. I pick it up Thursday, I'll post pics. Anyway. I called Flo at Progressive to get it insured. I've had Progressive since 1999 and only had 3 claims, a deer hit me on the motorcycle 3 years ago, and I have two open claims for hail damage. No accidents and clean driving records for the wife and I. Flo first quoted me $244 for a year and then once they put in the claims, they boosted it to $317 a year! For things that were acts of nature! I told Flo to stick it where the sun don't shine. I gave Geico a call. I've never had a policy with them. They gave me better coverage for $152 a year. I told them about the deer and the hail damage. It didn't make a difference. After I get these hail damage claims settled, Flo is losing all my business.

Was told years ago to shop around every few years just to keep on top of things.

Yep, every 3-4 years switch providers. Insurance companies dont reward you for loyalty.

I have Erie Insurance. They rarely raise my rates and if they do it is only a few bucks. Of course, other than a cracked windshield I can't remember a claim I've ever made.

So you really do save money by switching to Geico. grin

If I'm not mistaken, Progressive = George Soros.

Progressive also started credit based underwriting and pricing. Now they all do it. I think that's a bad deal and unfairly discriminatory. I think it should be prohibited and if I was state insurance commissioner it would be.

Progressive is the most dishonest insurance company I ever represented. I don't trust them.

Peter Lewis, one of the founders of Progressive did indeed support left wing causes. The political culture of Progressive is clearly lefty. But George Soros has nothing whatsoever to do with Progressive.

Nevertheless, I can't imagine many people on TMAN would support the causes that Progressive does.

Geico is owned by Warren Buffet I do believe.

I believe Progressive is owned, at least in part, by Bloomberg.

Progressive is publicly owned. Largest shareholders are Vanguard, Blackrock, Wellington Management. 87% owned by mutual funds and institutional investors...pension funds.

The value drops drastically but the premiums go up never did seem right to me.

I've tried most all of them over the years, and finally settled on FARM BUREAU. I have 2 houses, a car, a pick-up and a boat. Last year, I had hail damage on both houses, and they replaced the shingles on them both. At the lake house, the agent told me to keep all receipts and after all is settled, they would re-imburse the 1% copay, and sure enough, they did. I busted the hydraulic lift on my boat motor and they replaced that and, also replaced my steering cable, which was bad from wear and tear. No cost! Boat insurance is like $125 a year and I have used it 3 times already. No argument, ever.

I got curious one time a few years back and checked to see what Progressive and Geico wanted. BOTH wanted more to insure me at the minimum coverage possible than I was paying for full coverage where I am.

Farm Bureau and basically any of the farm mutual type companies are the only ones I will work for. Those big national competitions pay their adjusters less money and usually have teams of pencil pushers that dream up new ways of paying less for your claim. It is a fact ppl.

I refuse to ever use either Progressive or Geico simply because of their stupid commercials

Just got my annual renewal notice from progressive, two trucks are $400 more than last year. They also decided my company was a car hauling company last year half way through the policy and doubled my rates, we're very clearly not car haulers and it took hours to straighten it out on the phone.

Both of those companies blow. Woke libetards. Heck one even took on the far left name. They pay for all those commercials by fleecing their customers. Find a regional company or state .

I heard you guys got a bad hail storm. I've had good experiences with Erie

I always had good experiences with progressive. Mine is quite a bit more than $317 a year, I think it’s up around $1200ish, but I’ve got full coverage on two vechiles and I’m a younger guy. I’ve only had one claim, a hailstorm totaled my pickup. Although I feel like having a class A CDL with no restrictions, a tanker endorsement and one ticket in twelve years ought to qualify me for a lower rate. I haven’t shopped around for a while, maybe I ought to spend some time on the phone on Friday.

One of my pet peeves about insurance companies, your not rewarded for being a good risk. I'm 62 years old. I've paid my own premium since I was 16. In all those years, I've had 1 $2500 hail claim and 1 speeding ticket when I was 18 years old. No accidents and have had a CDL since I was 18. Yet my premium goes up about every year.

In Ontario, The towed trailer is covered by the insurance of the towing veicle. When you unhook it , it is no longer insured. . If it is a valuable trailer, you would likely want additional coverage.

Maybe in Texas but Farm Bureau in TN took my dad for a ride when his house was hit by a tornado. He'd been with them over 50 years and no claims. No car stuff, no home claims, they were absolute garbage. It really bothered him the way they treated him. I'll have to ask him who he switched to after that.

Third generation with Erie Insurance. Good company.

Re: Flo can go pound sand! - 06/22/22 11:06 AM

We just moved to Florida from Indiana. Everyone warned us our insurance would go way up. 2015 F150 was paying $634 a year in Indiana. Got 3 quotes down here. Direct wanted like $4000, Geico wanted $1500 and Progressive wanted $680. Was pretty happy with that.

When I was in business my favorite company to deal with was Farm Bureau. Those adjusters usually looked for ways to pay their customer's deductibles. Great people to work with.
