I had a fish on an hour earlier that I couldn't budge. Big head shakes, on for 6 seconds.

Then a few mins later I had a fish in the fig 8 and thwacked it in the head with my rod tip. Lol

I was pretty excited this one stuck. Netting them yourself is always exciting!

Re: My personal best musky - 06/26/22 03:52 PM

Wow
by the way is that a lamprey mark on it's side, or did you not notice.

that would add another 8 inches total length

Re: My personal best musky - 06/26/22 04:18 PM

Standard length weight tables suggest a weight of about 44 pounds at that length.

I don't even have a girth tape on board, or I'd have got that measurement for an even closer estimate!

I need to get one

I dont think it's a lamprey mark...it was a little pink bubble.

The walleye here had those early last fall, but the MNR biologists weren't too concerned.

I have seen lamprey scars and this didn't look quite right to me, but I could be wrong

Re: My personal best musky - 06/26/22 05:51 PM

Brook or chestnut lamprey have tooth marks the size of a dime, never seen a sea lamprey suction mark
maybe Mike Kelly can reply

Re: My personal best musky - 06/26/22 06:26 PM

I have studied a few 10 thousand lamprey marks and do not think that mark is one but I have never seen a sea lamprey scar or wound on a large scaled fish.

Ya, we got a soft spot for em here!

They all swim away.

We are polluted by walleye, bass and pike so the fishery is healthy.

I got a little ram mount cell phone holder mounted on the boat. Five second delay on the front screen camera, and it's pretty easy.

I have a little aluminum plate with a RAM on it for ice fishing.

I’ve got to get me something portable for turkey hunting! Trying to balance on something sucks, lol!!

Re: My personal best musky - 06/27/22 02:28 AM

Nice

Probably the only yankee fish that I wish we had down here. If their midget cousin jack pike, chain pickerel, is any indicator I imagine those things would be quite the handful to put in the boat.
