Hello, new to the site, long time lurker. Just a little back history. I can now say I am getting older but trapped in my younger days in the Connecticut salt marshes. Back then got a good many of the large black rats (good money) , coons, red fox, and mink. Most of the salt marshes are now preserves and no longer available for trapping. I now see mink everywhere along the salt coast and islands around where I live in SE CT. Coyotes have taken over all the woodlands. I have not trapped in a few years but currently hunt in CT and out of a camp in New Hampshire.
Welcome to trapperman.Sounds like everything has gone to heck by you don’t feel bad it’s like that everywhere.

Get your land permission early. I grew up trapping in Ct. Also be aware of all the antis. Good luck.

I do have enough of my own land for hunting deer and turkeys but trapping is tight. I am also next to large tracts of state forest but I'm out of the loop other than for the fishing and hunting reg's.

Welcome, I was introduced to trapping when my family relocated to Old Saybrook Ct as a kid. We moved there during the peak of the fur boom in 79 and muskrats were bringing 8$-10$ . Easiest money I ever made. The fur buyer liked the saltwater rats as he said the hides were thicker as they had more territory and more feed in the tidal marshes. I left Ct. in 88 and returned to Missouri. Lots of good memories running around in those marshes. Good luck this year.
