Works great....when you hit the brakes, the weight of the trailer lurches forward, engaging the trailer. No electric involved. [Linked Image]

nothing new about that.

I remember back somewhere in the mid 1980's. I rebuilt one of those for a friend that had a then old trailer that no one would touch.

Called surge brakes most boats over 17 ft long trailer is normal to have them

I'd never seen one. Great invention. Even though brakes just slow ya down.

You hit them hard with nothing in that trailer and it will lock up the wheels Main design is to assist the vehicle in stopping harder faster the actuator is depressed the trailer brakes do likewise

Surge brakes are standard fare on the other side of the pond. They don't allow electrickery brakes there. So its either surge or air depending on vechile and trailer weight ....... I am full of useless Information
