Annoying but maybe they

Annoying but maybe they - 06/28/22 02:06 PM

Don’t know.

An arrow board a half a mile away indicates the necessity for left lane traffic to merge right. I notice the cars already in the right lane are braking continuously indicating we will most likely be stopping. I’m about 250’ spacing so I have plenty to stop when 7 cars bumper to bumper pass me then jump in the right lane cutting my stopping distance in half within a couple seconds. They sure make it difficult to manage brakes. lol

I sometimes have dreams of just plowing through, opening the door upon stopping, flicking a cigarette at the carnage and then driving off into the sunset.

Rant over.

I'd always slide into the left and stay right next to someone who'd let me back over at the last second
REALLY torqued some folks off, others passed me in left shoulder/ grass.
Lots of one fingered waves.

I'm chiller these days, lol.

Ran into that quite alot when I was driving OTR. They don't realize you can't stop on a dime but they all need to be in front of you.

In situations like that, being behind a semi is a pretty safe place . So i'll slow down and let the big guy pass, make a gap, then flash my lights at him to move over in front of me.

My first job out of college was at a place that rebuilt tractor trailer brake shoes. After seeing the condition of many of those, I will always find a way to get out of in front of a truck.

That’s just payback for the 20 under turtle races from mid hill to the crest.

In MN and I'm guessing most other states, it's illegal to text while driving.
Yesterday on my way to town at 6:30AM, there was a car in front of me that would slow down, speed up, move across the center line, etc. I thought it was too early for someone to be drunk already.
When I felt safe, I passed the vehicle. I noticed it was a lady reading a book while she was driving. I guess there's nothing in the law that says reading a book while driving is a no-no, just don't be texting. crazy

I hit someone that pulled that stunt on me once. Just enough room for him to swing in, then he jumped on the brakes hard to avoid the guy that was in front of me.
I bumped into him, this was back when cars had real bumpers.

Traffic stopped so he gets out and heard me saying that idiot got what he deserved as I was getting out, so he got back in his car. lol

On the interstate last week following a semi who was all over the road. Finally managed to pass him and you could see the driver was texting. I layer on the horn as I passed hoping he would get the message.

We are flat here. I would have to drive 2 hours to find a hill that would cause me to slow down that much. lol

Working for the DOT Sometimes I am in your position driving a truck in construction, and other times I’m the guy working on the ground in the construction zone. What you describe happens A LOT, and many other idiotic situations that dumb butt drivers in a hurry and/or distracted cause. It’s scary, have to keep my head on a swivel cause you never know when some idiot in a hurry or not paying attention is gonna cause an accident and plow into me. And I gotta say it’s the truck drivers being idiots just as often as it is the passenger cars. Especially the foreign truck drivers.

I responded to an accident early one morning, single truck rollover, left the interstate on the left, overcorrected and flipped it over facing the wrong direction on the right side of the highway. Killed the driver. When we were cleaning up and getting the truck ready for the tow driver to flip it over the highway patrol heard his phone and thought it was an alarm or phone call, but when they finally found it the dang thing was playing the end credits of a movie. That scares the crap outta me cause at any given time during my work day I’m just a couple feet from traffic, and all it takes is one stupid driver on the road and I’m a grease spot on the interstate. So I just assume every vehicle on the road is an idiot, cause more often than not they are. Trucks included. That CDL doesn’t mean a dang thing anymore.

I can confirm this. Worked at one job that relined truck brake shoes. Some of them were very bad to others down into the steel.

I couldn't drive something that bad , but there are ones out there.

I just put a set on the tandem last Wednesday, I wasn’t looking to glaze them over people being stupid.

I watched two tractor trailers in cahoots pull off that maneuver on an interstate. It was a thing of beauty!!!

On my commutes to the big city, I constantly saw women putting on makeup in the rear view, and one guy had a cup of coffee in one hand a newspaper draped over the steering wheel, and was writing on it with the other hand!
