Those guys redefined the word "tough". They were nobody to mess with. Had an uncle who was a sailor on one of the ships that put them on the beaches......and he told me when they were going over the rail......if you tried to help one of them.....likely as not they would hit you in the mouth. Bad to the bone. Not many snowflakes in that bunch.
