Sprinkles is what the kids call them.
I like peanuts on top but everywhere around here has fallen for the food allergy crap. Can't get a good banana split any more.

Those are extruded sprinkles. The round colorful ones are nonpareils.

At the custard stand (ice cream shop) they are jimmies. If you buy a container of them in the grocery store, they are marked sprinkles.
