I had to wire my exhaust up on a vehicle. Had to today though. LOL Pretty sure last time I was still in HS.

After looking at and seeing the cost to repair it, it may stay wired for awhile. SHEESH!!!

I had a first .. last year. Leaving the DMV heard something tickling the ground under my truck (03 Chevy).
It was the end of une of the gas tank straps ! One end of the tank was inches off of the ground. Lucky it was only 1/3 full, and I had a ratchet strap behind the seat.
That could have been a mess had it happened on the highway trip home. I got lucky and thanked the Lord.

Had the same thing happen to me.......the day BEFORE Ford had the recall on gas tank straps. Luckily low on gas and I had some 16 gauge wire with me.

Reminds me of the old story about the "hillbilly, redneck, black, cajun, you pick one," that came in to the parts store asking for muffler wire..lol

An awful lot of wire coat hangers have been used in a pinch, once the muffler cooled off enough not to badly burn the poor guy who had to crawl underneath the vehicle.

Y'all.... grin

I had the tank straps replaced recently, along with a new glass pack muffler that had corroded out due to the blasted chemicals put on the roads in winter.

I couldn't believe all that weight is held up by two almost paper thin straps. My mechanic laughed at me.... what are these guys who invent this thinking ?

I have a run through on my truck , inside and out, periodically . I don't take surprises well.

This reminds me of my grandpa's farm truck. Everything was chained or wired on. Everything!

one of my first cars was a 65 chevy corvair. gave 25 bucks for it. Had two thrush mufflers on it and both were wired to stay up. Had wire and pieces of metal strapps all over that thing to have heat and keep it going. Sure was good in the snow though.

One of my old 8n tractors had more than a few feet of wire on it too.

Played that game. I was 130 or so miles from home. I noticed my fuel gauge went from 3/4 to full. I thought 'great now I have to keep an eye on the miles'. I started hearing something when I would hit a bump. Sadly it took me 30-40 miles before I put it all together and pulled off and checked. Sure enough the rear strap was broken. Couple ratchet straps and some rope held it up. That cheap little screw jack that comes with the truck managed to lift the 25 or so gallons that was in the tank.

I had a '68 C-10 that I wired a length of well casing onto the exhaust manifold and drove it like that for several years! (well before state inspections LOL), Sounded great!
