Polio

Polio - 08/07/22 12:35 AM

Saw on the news that now Polio is making a comeback. I guess only one confirmed case, in NYC, but they tested waste water from various parts of the city and it tested positive for polio also, so they're estimating that there might be 100 cases.

News is reporting the one case is from a kid raised by anti-vaxers, but who even knows if you can believe anything the news says anymore?

Antivax nutbars and immigrants from 3rd world countries are also responsible for the return of TB.

I wondered that too and from what I googled it appears that they still do.

Yup. My kids got it. It's an actual vaccine, meaning it prevents getting the disease.

Just how do the non immunized existing in an immunized population create disease? Don't they teach logic and reason in your socialist nation?

It's the so called immigrants, the "undocumented" ones most likely, that surely brought in a pathogen that was previously eradicated.

Now once that occurs the non immunized have a decision to make but even then they pose no threat to the immunized if the vaccine actually works.

Most of us are old enough to know people who's lives were devastated by polio. Thanks to the polio vaccine, there had been no new infections of polio in the US since 1979. Unfortunately, due to the bizarre anti-vaccination movement, polio and other devastating ailments now have the ability to infect American children again. The diseases also have the ability to mutate into worse forms, when they should have been exterminated.

It's terrible that polio is being allowed to make a comeback and destroy more people's lives.

Its terrible that diseased third world migrants are being allowed in without a thorough health screening.

We stopped giving the vaccine a decade or more ago, as the very rare incidence of polio from the vaccine was greater than from an outside infection.

Back in the 90s, I belonged to a Rotary Club. We had a program called Polio Plus, that Rotary Clubs in every country sponsored. The goal was to wipe polio out for good, which we nearly did. Problem was some African countries were constantly at war and aid workers could not get into remote locations. Our district sponsored a remote location where there was not electricity or refrigeration. The vaccine had to be kept in coolers on ice. Runners would deliver it between villages. Our runner stepped on a land mine and lost his foot. We flew a volunteer group of orthopedic surgeons to fit him with a prosthetic foot.

Had those African nations cooperated, polio would have been eliminated. Now we’re back to square one, and need to vaccinate our kids again.

My guess would be Afghan refugees could be the source. But......even vaxxed people can get it depending on which vaccine they got. The injectable is pretty much fool proof but the oral can let some of the virus slip past it but the odds are still super low.

Of course the news is saying that. Who owns most news outlets? The left. They are up to their fear spreading games once again.

Some immunologists insist that some diseases only exist now through shedding from vaccinated people
