The Mink Man. - 08/09/22 05:03 PM

I read about him on agweb. He goes to farms with serious rat problems and hunts barn rats with a mink and dogs. He makes his income hunting barn rats. I found the story interesting.

Hmm, I wonder how hard a mink is to train?

I got a buddy in Ireland that uses hunting Hawks and Falcons for the same.
Makes good money and has a lot of fun at the same time.

If it’s a same guy I am thinking of, he used to post videos of hunting muskrats with his mink and they were pretty interesting.

My grandpa told me how my great grandpa used to train minks to go down in rabbit holes. Back when that was taking place people did a lot of things to put food on the table. He said that was the most enjoyable of ways to provide meat

Usually when they get older they get temperamental and it reaches a point where you have to set em free. If they have that fighting instinct then they do just fine when releases

Ferrets were used a lot for hunting rabbits.

As I understand it, after he had a trained mink stolen, and another got lost, his heart just wasn't in it anymore and he retired from it.
