Lost my dad

My dad passed away yesterday. 13 days short of the day my mom died last year. He had dementia and we cared for him at home until the end. My mother was the only memory he consistently had. Almost every day he would pack up random things and try to go find her. Two of my siblings and I took turns staying with him and although it was extremely trying at times, I am truly thankful we were able to stick together and spend the time with him. He was the most generous man I ever knew. He absolutely couldn't stand to see anyone go without anything they needed. He would buy food and clothing for every needy family he came across even if he had to borrow to do it. A truly wonderful man and I am proud that he was my dad!

Cablejohn- One of those extremely bittersweet things in life is as we get older, our older loved ones we care are getting older as well. We can never escape that part of mortality. It sounds like your dad was an amazing man, and if he was a believer, he modeled Jesus better than most, myself included. Remember and cherish all those good memories and proud moments remembering your parents. Those never wear out...

Sorry for the loss of your dad. Lost mine 6 years ago and think about him every day. Lost my Mom last year to cancer and like you my sister and I took care of her at home until the end. Although burying your parents is the natural way of life it's still hard. Never get over it, just learn to live with it.

I hope and pray for strength and condolences for you're family and friends during this difficult time , as mentioned before they're together in a better place without pain or discomfort .

I lost both my mother and father in recent years. It is not an experience that is easily prepared for. Dad went quick but mom hung on for a few years with our care. Thankfully we could keep her at home until she passed. We all feel your loss and hope that your days ahead will get easier.
