Trapping Belt Buckle - 09/06/22 02:30 PM

Hi all,

I am looking for a trapping themed belt buckle. I have seen the 4 1/2 Newhouse buckles (real and repop/fake). I am wondering if there are any others out there.

Thanks,
Kyle

The National Trappers Assn. sold beautiful trapping belt buckles for years. I collect them, but they are hard to find.

I believe I have a few different ones. Let me look for them tonight. Now all I need to do is to remember to look for them.

If you are anything like me, you'll remember that you were supposed to remember something...

Thank you! What I remembered as trapping buckles weren't what I thought they were. The mind is the second thing to go I guess.

The Newhouse ones belonged to a guy I will call my adopted Grandfather. One he wore everyday (and shows it) and the other he kept new and untouched. I have been told there are reproductions available now but I haven't looked. The MN Trapper Association one is dated 1989.

The United trappers of KY has a belt buckle. I wear one to church every Sunday. If anyone wants one let me know. We have a handful of them left.

I don't know if he retails them but John Graham of "Fur Country Lures" is a Montana Silversmith dealer. He had some really nice ones at his Coyote Days event a few weeks ago. They were beautiful silver with a gold looking coyote in the center and nice scroll work around the edges.
You might call John and Nicole at their Lusk Wyoming shop.

Also there was a series of buckles made called The Great Mountain Men. There are a few of them with traps on them. I would just search ebay now and then. You should eventually find one you like.

The former Animal Trap Co.of America in Lititz Pennsylvania (which renamed itself Woodstream Corporation) sold a couple of belt buckles in the early 1980's as a promotion. They are both pewter and one of them has red and blue enamel. They pop up every now and then on Ebay and you can find a couple good pictures of them on Google.
