El-annoy is going to eliminate cash bail for some serious crime, and go to the participation trophy system. Per Yahoo news

I hate my state's politicians. So bad guys aren't bad any more is what I'm hearing.

Re: Free pass on crime - 09/16/22 02:49 PM

yes it is Real the ILL state is going catch and release only on criminals short of murder.

Winnebago county said they will have to release about 400 inmates from the jail

it gets worse they can let them go on electronic monitoring but if the con cuts the ankle monitoring device off the police has to wait 48 hours to go after them.

I don't think they expect anyone to ever come back for trial

So, let the Purge begin? For a long time, many folks in the southern part of the state have taken care of their own business. Now, it looks like there will be more of that. As a LEO, this is concerning.

I believe the party line it "they are victims of an unjust , discriminatory system of incarceration " totally forgetting that these people have Victims people they hurt and keeping them locked up keeps them off the streets from harming more people.

Re: Free pass on crime - 09/16/22 03:58 PM

Its been a long time coming down to eye level. We had a couple of guys come in here 40 yrs ago and bought up everything they could buy, lumberyards, houses, thousands of acres of land. They siphoned off the cash and in a few years filed bankruptcy. Even pulled a banker into it almost over his head in legal complications. Every thing they did was on the shady side of the law. Even if what they did was legal, was it honest?

Knew another guy built a big hog house, siphoned off the cash and built a big house near town, filed bankruptcy and retired in his new house under some kind of homestead exemption.

Dishonesty has just trickled down and now dishonest just don't seem honest, does it?

If they make it down to W. Kentucky, we'll do our part to help take out the trash.

every state around the ILL state . WI, IN, MO, IA , KY will probably be feeling the burden of the ILL decision

we can only hope our jails don't just fill up with their people , hopefully they will know to keep their crimes in ILL but I doubt it.

I expect you will see a major loss of LEOs in ILL they will be wanting to leave at first opportunity for any place around that will study them.

Re: Free pass on crime - 09/16/22 04:58 PM

Just the beginning. Many places have the same 'unofficial' policy carried out by soros DA's. This will spread as states jump to not be out woke by another state....

Re: Free pass on crime - 09/16/22 05:15 PM

King Arthur was killed in the War of the Roses. He started innocent til proven guilty. and posting bail. At that time you could be held for years without bail for near nothing. After he was killed his successor King Henry claimed those to his good deeds. The victor writes the history.

Illinois is another case of extremism. Sometimes the pendulum sways to the extreme. But things just don't happen overnight, usually a succession of events bring it to the finish.

" For the want of a nail the shoe was lost

For the want of a shoe the horse was lost

For the want of a horse the rider was lost

For the want of a rider the battle was lost

For the want of a battle the kingdom was lost

And all for the want of a horseshoe nail "

Re: Free pass on crime - 09/17/22 09:29 PM

What does this really mean???

If I read it right, it changes very little? Misdemeanors and non-violent criminals are arrested then held to see the judge who decides to offer or set bail....only the bail is free? Can't the judge release someone on their own recognizance now and ain't that the same? I see both sides. If your crazy neighbor lies to have you arrested, and you have no money, then you get out right away without money, then go to trial and show everyone it's just your crazy neighbor? Innocent until proven guilty, right?

If you are guilty but the judge sees no danger, you're let go till trial where you'll be sentenced. If you do anything while you're out, I guess it'll be like probation and magnify whatever mess you already in? The prosecution has 48 hours to gather evidence to convince the judge to hold you but if you were arrested, they should already be enough evidence for the prosecutor I bet.

I know nothing about law and crime so would someone explain what I'm missing?

The text I saw read not eligible for detainment. This was for crimes up to and including 2nd degree murder. Drug induced murder was also not eligible for detainment. Judges are not able to write a warrant until the dirtbag has missed his second court date. Can’t pursue anyone who has cut off their ankle tracker for at least 48 hours. Going to be the Wild West here in the land of corruption.

Democrats pass laws that benefit criminals period.

I started boycotting places like Illinois over 15 years ago. Fence it in and let them go wild..... "Snake" Plissken style.

sure a long way around if your headed to WI ,IA , MN or MO

maybe gas up before crossing and drive the fastest route without stopping.

once you get more 75 miles from Cook co or maybe it should be called Crook county most of the people are quite nice and normal

remember about 80% of ILL counties are 2A sanctuary co, you just wouldn't know because Crook Co and it's neighbors basically set all state law.

Really it does make sense, not in the having a safe society way but that’s not what their aiming for, you have to remember you need to look at their actions not how they advised and advocate for what their doing, and what their doing is creating fear, increasing crime, social decay, anarchy and chaos to name a little bit

Now ask yourself why they would do something like this with an outcome that’s easily predictable, Its certainly not for some pie In the sky idea of some utopia where bad people are going to change their ways and suddenly become law abiding citizens, it’s all about power and control, people who are living in social chaos with rampant crime are very willing to give up rights and freedoms for the promise of safety, many will even suggest more they can give up for safety sake, and then later will wonder what happened why their rights and freedoms are gone

By the way what’s happening now is right out of the communist playbook on how to take over a county mag get the people to actually give up control and freedoms willingly

Gives a good analysis of what’s going on far better then I can put it into words

you obviously did not read it right! they are not talking about minor misdemeanors. They ARE talking about violent crimes and felonies. bail is there to make sure the defendant shows up for court and is not a threat to society. the prosecutor has to get the information (Probable cause) to the judge within 48 hours(usually quicker) and the judge determines the bail. they are skipping this whole process. so if you think someone who commits a violent crime will not do it again then you'd be right and this would not be a problem. the problem with this line of thought is that most of us know this to be false

And yet you have those individuals who support this . Say that people who are against it don’t understand it… it’s something how they are more educated than law enforcement and states attorneys

Re: Free pass on crime - 09/18/22 10:19 PM

We do need some form of bail reform but not this.

The bail reform I speak of is how I was done one night in Dooley County, GA. Pulled over for doing 60 in a 55mph construction zone. Was instructed to follow the deputy back to the jail. Once there I was taken inside fingerprinted and photographed and informed that I had to post a 1500 cash bail. Meanwhile my truck with two employees sat outside in the parking lot unable to be released.
The missus had to drive down with cash as they wouldn't take plastic or let my guys run to an atm with my card.

Then when I had to drive back down for court the fine came to exactly 1500.
