Let me take you back to 2014 when I started getting double vision...I had an MRI and a brain tumor was discovered. (I will try to keep my story as short as possible.) When it was found I was only 25 and I was terrified. I had no idea what to expect. I had many invasive and noninvasive tests done and it was decided that the tumor would be monitored by MRI with hopes that nothing would change and I be remain asymptomatic. Fast forward to February 2022. I had a routine MRI and a parotid tumor was found. This tumor has actually been there the entire time just was never noted because the radiologist weren't very successful in reading the scans. Surgery was scheduled for June to remove the parotid tumor but in May I had a grand mal seizure. This seizure is related to the tumor in my brain...I went and saw a new neurosurgeon and he asked if I wanted the tumor out. I basically had to decide my own fate. The tumor wasn't growing but it was causing some type of disturbance. It was believed to be a malformation not an actual tumor... so I I had a lot of think about. I ultimately decided to have it removed. September 14th. 9 days ago. I am having a bit of a rocky recovery. I'm in pain, I'm sick but I'm fighting!! I am so thankful I trusted my gut to have it removed because it is some type of tumor, NOT a malformation. I may need radiation but I won't know for a few more days. Please send over some positive thoughts or prayers. I could definitely use them!

At least you are aware of your condition and your doctors are treating you for it .Knowing about it and treating it gives you a head start on overcoming it and living as normal life as you can hope for .Bless you and keep your head up And also remember it is OK to feel bad for yourself once in a while We all have the right to give ourselves credit for the bad times we endure .

Gosh Kristen, that's a tough thing. Hope you don't need radiation, my wife had 3 different ones 16-18 years ago.
April 1 she had a bad stroke.
Recovery is slow, our go fund me money bought us a hyperbaric oxygen chamber.
They help a lot with brain injuries, any injury.
She is pain free inside the chamber, has had bad pain for 4 months.
All her new movements came inside the chamber.

It is scary going in and waiting all those weeks before hand and now that is over. The healing is started and the feeling better each day is wonderful. Been there with different problems and you will pull through. Each day you will feel better and better. Good choice, modern medicine is a LIFE saver. Be positive and keep active......jk

Kristen, My thoughts are with YOU. I was in your position 57 yrs ago at 19. Tumor between the 3rd & 4th ventricle of the brain." Football". After 2 surgery's Life has been GOOD.............. all on barrowed time. I have led a full good life with minimal limitations. Have often wondered what HE kept me around for.......... The road to recovery is slow. Do not rush IT. Creep before you walk.......... Medical knowledge has come a looooong way.......... Wishing you the very Best future. Tut

You can do this. No other option exists.
My wife had a benign brain tumor removed over 6 years ago. At that time, the surgeons said it was the size of a lemon.
I have no problem field dressing or gutting or whichever term you like to use. But when I spoke with the surgeons (two of them at Mayo) they said that, after they removed the tumor, they could see the brain expanding, trying to fill the empty space. Gave me the willies.
Today, my bride of almost 46 years is just fine.

Just needed another break from work. Haha! I've been watching a lot of outdoor shows the past few days, which keeps me motivated! I was outside a bit today and the weather has definitely changed for the better. I can't give up now, the best is yet to come.

10 weeks later how are things going now.
Still unable to work or drive because of my vision. I did see an oncologist recently to start a follow-up plan of MRI's. I'm feeling pretty good, just wish my eyeballs would cooperate! The medication I'm on Alsop has come nasty side effects but other wise, I'm doing fine! I didn't expect to be off work this long but I'm just glad to be here and that my results were benign.

Stay strong ! What are you doing for the vision trouble ? Will it get better with time or are you doing some kind of therapy or exercises ? Are you seeing a neuro-optometrist? Keep up the fight !

My wife had double vision after her stroke, for about ten days, it was weird when it happened.
Every nurse and Dr would ask how many fingers am I holding up?
First night we had William for a nurse, he was from Africa, he did all the questions like the others, and instead of asking how many fingers he held up, he leans in closer and says to Kathy, so, how many black men do you see!
OMG! We all three laughed so hard, I wasn't expecting that, he was always fun

Someone once asked a few years ago what the hub bub was all about with Kristen, particularly the high number of views generated by her posts.
This poster was not exactly conveying a positive vibe.
I have thought about it for quite some time. Yes, she has an endearing, and infectious smile, and beautiful eyes, but that is not it.
What it is for me is that she represents the type of gal who any father could only hope to have as a daughter. An outdoors person who traps etc, and is so pleasant all of the time.
My best wishes to you Kristen. Deep down I don't feel that you need my well wishes. You are going to make a full recovery. You just need to believe that. It will happen.

Unfortunately not.
Still waiting to get another EEG. Hopefully soon though!

As we know, we can only do so much ourselves and then in our time of trials, often called suffering, we find answers to questions we wouldn't have ever asked... if not for the trials.
That scenario is beyond us, but not beyond the One who made you.
May the peace of God, shalom, come upon you, now as it has in the past (at times), giving you rich moments of reflection on those things that really matter and those things that really don't, so that you're able to rest a while and put things in proper perspective.
Our prayers will aim this way.
