Yellow jackets - 09/25/22 04:24 PM

Have 2 nests inside the walls of our church. I put out a can of chicken with fipornal (spelling may not be right) and they will not touch it. Added a teaspoon of sugar and still no takers. Has been 5 days, what am I doing wrong?

I used .6cc of Navigator SC In 2 cans of tuna. I drained the tuna water. Mixed the Navigator SC into the water. Mixed the treated water back into the tuna and put 1 can of bait in each of 3 pear trees that yellow jackets were eating fruit in. I had near perfect results.

Are you sure they are yellow jackets?

If they need to be dead quick get a can of PT565 plus XLO. Find the entrance. Wait till night, stick the tube of the pesticide in to the hole and start spraying. Dont quit until you've sprayed half the bottle per nest. It will sound like a freight train coming down the tracks they'll buzz so loud inside as they die. But the nest will be eliminated in mere minutes. Then tempo dust the entrance hole to keep any that forgot to return home at night from entering and after a week seal the hole. The pesticide acts so quick there is no reason to worry about getting stung by escaping yellowjackets since it knocks them out of the air if you hit them with it and crawling out the hole while your spraying wont be possible. They will fall out from above though because of gravity. I still wore coveralls, hood and gloves though.

Also wondering what kind of Fipronil you are using? The yellowjacket study with Fipronil was done using Termidor SC. Maybe there is something in whatever you are using is repelling them. I tried frontline once and yellowjackets wouldn't take the bait. Using Termidor they did.
