Social Security just called - 10/04/22 08:42 PM

Stating that my SS number had been used in illegal activity.

I asked him to spell Social Security and he hung up!

I don’t think it was legitimate!

Poor scammer…..lol

Very smart of you to do that, snap.

SS has other ways of notifying about business at hand.

You should have responded by saying "this call maybe recorded for security purposes"

Done that and a lot of other verbal antics. Usually it’s me that hangs up but he hung up so fast it was funny! 15 minutes later it was the google bunch. This goes on a lot.

I had a gal call me saying that she was with Blue Cross and Blue Shear. I laughed at her and said, "Sure you are." as sarcastically as I could muster.
"CLICK" was her response. I so enjoy messing with scammers.

They will never call you. Always notified by USPS. Scam.

I got a call telling me if I didn't act quick my ss # would be canceled. Don't remember my response or if I just hung up.

I got a call that my Social Security Card had some suspicious activity and that it had been suspended. When I pushed #2 to talk to them they didn't play along with me for long.

Got a call yesterday that caller ID indicated was from Allakaket, AK. I know some folks in that tiny village way up the Koyukuk River far from any road system, so I answered.

Gal tried to convince me that she was calling about my compromised Amazon account.

I asked when Amazon had moved to Allakaket. And how my account could be compromised when I didn't have an account.

Yes, they've been running a radio ad stating just that. Just hang up.
They are trying to get your SS number. I suppose if they ask for your SS number, you could say, "You tell me. You're the person who told me there was a problem with it." How could they know there's a problem if they don't have your number?

I get those all the time from google. All are remote areas of Alaska. I have also had legit phone numbers here in Fairbanks used and when I call the number back they don’t know how that happened.

We just had the “ hey grandma this is your granddaughter” call for the 4th time.

Did they find my $6M and do they just need my bank account information to transfer the money to it?

I got a call from a "Federal agent" one night. I asked him for his ID number. Unphased he spouted off about 6 numbers. I said sir, that ID should be 10 digits...click. I have no clue how many digits it should be, but I knew he hadn't said 10 lol.

Dang crooks are in charge nowdays. Phone rings constantly, and most I don’t answer, but have been fooled enough that just because it comes up spam, I still answer. I just wait for a bit, if it’s a scammer, they are usually bugging someone else. I’ve had calls from the VA come up as scam before. That kinda surprised me!

Re: Social Security just called - 10/05/22 05:45 PM

things are bad all over.....gonna get worse. So many folks lying/scamming. Going thru an issue with the state law enforcement and the officers lie on official paperwork, then the head lawyer for them lies to me in e-mails....just to hide minor negliance and not pay a small damage claim...been a year now...still going at it. It is a disgrace.
