Both of them are swolled up in the neck and have puny racks, poor in structure. I'd drop them both in hopes that a better quality buck could spread his genes instead of these two delicious losers.

I have a buck on our place that could be a twin of that second one.

Re: Which is Older? - 11/01/22 11:26 AM

I have to agree with jbyrd, without a broadside pic it is just a WAG

What I can tell you is the 2nd is old enough he should have a better set of antlers.

I think the 2nd is 3 (back is still flat, no sway), 1st is probably at least the same.

Disclaimer: I am a novice at aging deer laugh

Need a broadside picture to check back sway, belly and brisket depth in particular.

Re: Which is Older? - 11/01/22 12:42 PM

The second picture was taken a day sooner, therfore it must be older. wink

I’m pretty sure it’s the same deer in both pictures;-)

I don't think its the same deer but hard to compare deer build with the one walking away. Just a quick glance would say there are close to the same age.

Clearly the second one is older by 8 hours 51 min. You'd think more trappers would see the sign.

Jbyrd and Bear tracker have the best answer. Need better pictures.

Re: Which is Older? - 11/01/22 07:46 PM

I know of NO ONE that can age a deer from a rear end pic. Based on what’s given I’ll say the second deer and if you need to fill a tag, take him regardless of age.

Here's the video but he still isn't really broad side like the other.
