Better Roads in Roman Times - 11/11/22 12:52 PM

The Road Dept engineers were better in Roman times than now

In Roman times, the so-called ′Tiger Eyes′ small white stones were placed among the stones on the road so that they could be seen at night.

In those days the workers( AKA the slaves) doing the job where not paid as well Nor did they have as people giving orders as to how to do the job the proper way If you want to witness some examples of road construction come to PA Our roads are rated as some of the worst in the US and that's having one of the highest gas taxes in the nation which are supposed to be used to keep the roads in good condition

The old stone arch bridges that were built in the Mid to late 1800's around here are still being used by the railroads but ones built with steel and concrete much later are falling apart.

If we only allowed ox carts and foot traffic on our modern roads they would last centuries too... Not too many 80,000 lb Peterbilts in the time of the caesars.

Way more pounds per sq inch from a foot of a 10,000 lb elephant than from an 80.000 lb 18 wheeler.

There's three of them within 4 miles of where I live.
All three are railroad bridges .
Many trains are around 100 cars long. A lot of trains pass through each day , around 20 if not more.
