Got it on camera this morning. I don't recall ever seeing a bigger fork horn!

Body looks nice, it'd fill the freezer just fine.

I agree with k snow. Sure looks like dinner. Genetics seem to be whitetail wink

If he's a year and a half old he's off to a pretty good start

Nope I don’t think so. He will probably turn out like the buck my daughter shot a couple years ago. I posted a picture of it on the Rutting buck travel distance forum the other day.

That’s a big forky. I think it’s awesome! Probably the genetics are why he’s only got forks but he’s big because he’s an older buck.

This is my buck from last year and I thought it was really cool. I didn’t win a big buck bet but I was happy to get this one. He’s a fork frame

Not at all!

All good.

I never considered he might be older, and actually have poor genetics!

I don’t see the big of it in the pic. He looks like a 2.5yr old. But then again I sent a pic of a buck I got this morning to my son and buddy thinking 3.5 and they both said 4.5, lol.

Fork horns here have like, two inch tines lol.

This one just seemed bigger than most. I'm not sure it's age or antler potential.

If he’s that at what I think is 2.5 he’s worth watching another year just to see what he does.

**BUT, I realize not everyone has that opportunity. If he’s big in your area then send it and get an up-close look at him.**

From what I see he looks like a 1 1/2 compared to our deer. BUT aging deer from a somewhat poor black and white pic of a deer from a completely different part of the country is nothing more than a guess.

Here’s the deer I thought was 3.5. Got outvoted and was told 4.5, lol.

If he was here, just looking at his body I'd say 2 1/2 tops

How old do u think these 2 are

Re: Does this fork horn have good genetics? - 11/17/22 02:23 AM

4.5 left 5.5+ right

Re: Does this fork horn have good genetics? - 11/17/22 02:24 AM

See where ur at makes a difference. Neither are that old

Re: Does this fork horn have good genetics? - 11/17/22 02:25 AM

Actually looking at the body on the left his rear end is still much bigger than the front and still has a neck, could be 3.5.

Re: Does this fork horn have good genetics? - 11/17/22 02:26 AM

So you’re saying that deer on the right isn’t 5.5? That neck and front end screams 5.5 here, lol.

Re: Does this fork horn have good genetics? - 11/17/22 02:29 AM

Yes it might there but they start getting blocky here at 3.5 and really blocky at 4.5. Lol

Re: Does this fork horn have good genetics? - 11/17/22 02:33 AM

Will say the angle of that pic may make the one on the right look a little bit bigger than he really is body wise

Still say that top pic is minimum 4.5 but I still think he’s pushing 5.5, lol!!

Yes Sir, what’s the deal with the garbage cans? Is there some sort of feed in it? Or water? Happy trapping! ScottW

That's my blind. I but feed on the lid and when they get use to eating there I hide in it and pop out and shoot them. Had to tie it to the t post cause I get a little excited and have fell over a few times and it throws my aim off.

How old do you think this buck is? He was on my camera Friday, I’d guess at least 4.5. Big bodied deer I hope my wife can get with her .243 in a couple if weeks.

My guess would have been 3.5 as well Wanna Be.

Kstrapper
That deer is a toad. I'd say he's likely 4.5 or older. Neck makes his head look small and looks like he's got a Roman nose to him.

Perfect example of a 5.5 or older to me.
No neck to speak of.
Front end larger than rear end…a younger buck looks even front to rear.
Sagging belly.
And I can about guarantee when you see him in person he walks like a Bulldog. They just have that swag to them. The way it was told to me and I’ve told everyone that hunts with me, when a mature deer steps out, you’ll KNOW it, lol. They just carry themselves much differently than a younger deer. You will pick up your weapon before picking up the optics to look him over, lol. And yes, I carry optics even when archery hunting.
