That is awesome! I ended up with 3 decoys in a bunch of junk I bought. I have never used one and around here I was afraid the foam bodies may plug up the Timber Wolves bowel movements so I sold them. I believe that at least one of the buyers shot a buck over one. Maybe I should have kept them.

Only hunting tool, equipment or gadget I've ever bought that worked as good as I hoped it would (actually better). Third time I've had one attacked. Got video this time. Probably have had 30 bucks come into a decoy, only 2 or three I can think of that saw it and didn't come up to it.

Neat to see, did the buck ruin the decoy or is it made to take the abuse?

Hard plastic like trash can. It can handle it.

Don't think it would work around here but if I still had the place in Kansas to hunt I would be trying it wink

Great photos!
I look forward to seeing the video!

A decoy is absolutely essential for bow hunting.
It has made bow hunting active instead of passive.
Sometimes I never see the buck until it is moving in on the decoy.
Fantastic when the pull back their ears, fuzz up, and get in a trance.
I decoyed more than 30 bucks in 3 seasons.

Happened to mine not 10 days ago.
Was between a truck and a leaky diesel tractor, lol.
Buck didn't care.

No I'm trying to hold out for one particular deer and that wasn't it. We have a few that would seriously tempt if they stood in front of me too long

Almost as fun as shooting one. When they attack the speed and violence is surprising. The first time it happened I wasn't expecting it to happen and physically jumped when it did. I could write two pages of the experiences I've had with deer reacting to the decoy. 99% of the time it confuses them and they can't figure it out. Only time one has left scared is when they attack it and it doesn't sound right. I've had the go a 100yds and come back 3 or 4 times.

Very funny when using a flat decoy

Really confuses them

Re: My evening hunt over decoy - 11/20/22 03:50 PM

Tried the flat ones but they don't hold a candle to the 3d ones. Use flat ones muley hunting with good results though

Re: My evening hunt over decoy - 11/20/22 03:55 PM

Friend an I used them yrs ago when we took horns seriously. Stopped using them because we couldn't keep the little bucks from goring them and then have to climb down an reset. Believe one hunt I reset decoy 5 times! One buck nocked it over multiple times. I gave up on em after that.

But what a time

Re: My evening hunt over decoy - 11/20/22 04:00 PM

Every buck but 2 that have seen the decoy has came in to it. One I had it setup on tight cover, which is not good, and buck didn't see it until ten yards away and it scared it and the other could see a buck chasing a doe 150 yds past me. He opted for the hot action. Pain in the but to carry in and setup but it will bring nearly every buck within range if used properly and they aren't with a hot doe.

We don't have as many deer as u guys there and they don't seem to gore it that often here. If u still have it and it's the right style I'd be real interested in buying them

No argument there. They work! As you stated it's pita carrying in.

Had been thinking of getting one so just ordered one. May try it youth season over Thanksgiving.

Use a young buck decoy or a 1 horned larger buck decoy

Don’t use a decoy in any gun season!

Re: My evening hunt over decoy - 11/20/22 08:22 PM

Had a small buck come to a Montana Decoy once. He smelled every inch of that decoy and left confused.

Re: My evening hunt over decoy - 11/20/22 09:25 PM

Very cool.
Years ago I orange bottle tanned a deer hide and wrapped it around a archey target.
When set as a doe I can't count how many times smaller bucks would come sniff it then lay down beside it. Sometimes for hours.
Had several wild encounters carring it on my shoulder. (Don't do that unless. Your absolutely positive no one else is hunting near by).
If I used it during gun season I wrapped a vest around it during transport.

I've never had my decoy attacked. I probably should have used it this fall. They do work good. I use the alert doe Flambeau decoy. It works great on the small bucks.. I'm not so sure on the big ones.

Ive tried mine a couple of times without the antlers without much success. U would think a doe decoy would be better during rut but it doesn't get the attention like a buck decoy.
