Will it fire - 11/20/22 01:48 AM
Washed a hand loaded 25-06 in our washing machine. Found it when loading the dryer, so it never tumbled in the heat of the clothes dryer.
Would never hunt with it, but I expect it will fire. Plan to test it soon.
What are your opinions? Loaded with RCBS dies.

I think it will. Can you hear the powder if you shake it?

Should fire, but the constant agitation of the washer could have broken the powder grains and would make it fire with a different impact point.
only 1 way to find out, got a pumpkin kickin' around?
i did it with 22 ammo , and none of it would fire
Better than a 50 percent chance.

Absolutely. Should’ve done a poll…..ya or no.

Really?? I routinely wash .22 shells and 95% of them still fire.
Whenever we needed more .22 ammo as a kid we went and looked on the shelf by the clothes dryer. LOL My mom just through them in an old tupper ware container there as they fell out of our pockets when she did laundry. I feel like a good many of them fired otherwise we would have stop grabbing them from there. I have washed high caliber rounds more than once and dont recall one ever not firing.

I've had plenty of 22 ammo fire after going through the washer, but I've had a fair amount that wouldn't either. I think sometimes it depends on the batch. I've went swimming (not intentionally) more than once with centerfire ammo, both factory and handloads. Usually it will fire just fine. But I remember having some handloads that were in my 45/70 one time and it had been wet repeatedly, riding around on the fourwheeler and I think even in the river once or twice, and just thrown in the front seat of the pickup to dry, without being unloaded. Those not only didn't fire when I handed it to a guy to shoot a bear with, but I pulled the bullets when I got home and dumped the powder out, and the powder wouldn't even burn lighting it with a match!
